Ok...I know that putting a baby to bed with a bottle is bad...but I am guilty and now I am trying to end it. My daughter just turned two and I promised myself that I would end it after her 2nd birthday....so here we are! Any suggestions moms?? I would really appreciate them!

What can I do next?

Wow, I could have written this, my daughter just turned 2 and still takes the bottle, I have been meaning to take the bottle away but I just keep procrastinating, Reading your request has made me want to nip it in the bud. So good luck to you, let us know how it turns out for you. I am really interested to know.

I agree with the rest of posters. She might suprise you, have her throw all bottles away and get her some sippy cups. I gave all 3 of mine a cup before bedtime and they were fine without bottles.

Can do a water cup in bed with her instead. We do that with both our boys, so they can independently take a drink if thirsty in the night. The reason the milk is so bad in bed is because it's bad for the teeth for milk to be sitting on the teeth, so it's just as bad to give an older baby with teeth a bottle in the middle of the night without brushing their teeth afterward. If your baby is really attached to that milk bottle going to bed, you could wean her of it by putting less and less milk in there until it is an empty bottle or she doesn't even want that anymore, while having a water sippy in there with her as well so she can drink if truly thirsty.

My son was between 2-1/2 and 3 when he gave it up on his own. I really don't see anything wrong about the bottle. I know the doctors don't recommend it, but I'm going by what my mom told me, "you took the bottle until you didn't want it anymore and you turned out ok"...

I had the same panic attack when my daughter turned 2 and still was going to bed with a bottle. I felt so guilty. I gave her water in it instead. This lasted a little while, but she pretty much gave it up herself after I stopped putting milk in it. It wasn't as traumatic as I thought it would be. Good luck!

While my little girl didn't need a bottle at night to sleep, she did during the daytime. I just quit the bottles cold turkey. She has just turned 2 and I did it shortly after her birthday.

When she was about 1, I stopped the nighttime bottles by putting water in them. She learned fast that this is the way it was going to be. They learn so fast, as long as you don't lose your ground! Good luck and congrats on wanting to stop the nighttime bottle.
