We Found Out...

We found out what we are having; this is our third child, we did not find out with the others. Now the tech was very sure she was right on the babies sex, but I still worry that they might be wrong. Have many or any of you been told what you are having and it be wrong?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for your posts, We had both a regular ultrasound done and a 3D. My husband was late to the u/s and I wanted to make sure he was still on board with finding out. So when she did show us it was a brief moment, she said she had already see the three lines many times and was very sure. I guess just not seeing it that long myself or having a printed picture of it was a little bothersome for me. I do remember clearly though when she was measuring the tight bone that I didn't see anything well between the legs...lol. Thanks again!

Now remember, almost everyone knows someone who knows someone who was told the wrong sex. What you don't hear about is how they're right way more often than they're not. :) Just keep that in mind!

Well, my sister in law and brother found out they were having a girl. They bought all kinds of stuff and even had a baby shower where they recieved all kinds of pink stuff. Then, 2 weeks before her due date, they had an ultrasound to check if the baby was breech. The doctor told them there is no way it was a girl, they were having a boy. She said she would never find out the sex before again! They kept the girl stuff in hopes of having a girl someday. We found out with our 3rd, but even then we didn't go wild on purchasing stuff just in case.

Yes that happened to me I was told I was having a girl and when my Ex husband and I looked at the sonagram pics we knew it was a boy but the DR insisted it was a girl. I felt in my heart that I was having a boy, I had the signs of carrying a boy, even tho they are not 100% accurate, carrying really low and we did some silly test we found on the internet and all of them stated we were having a boy. I actually had to get a 2nd sonagram and come to find out my 1st DR was incorrect! After 8 months of thinking I mite be carrying a girl according to my Dr. the tech asked me what I was having and what name I picked out, after is disclosed my Baby Girl name she looked up and said, UMMM I hope you have boy names as well becuse this is definately a boy! I sat up and out of excitment said "I KNEW IT!"
Not sure how my old DR missed that but I was happy either way.

Try the little tests found out on line they are silly but they did lead to me believe I was having the correct sex baby..

Good luck either way!

I found out I was having a boy and it was right..

I have heard that its hard sometimes when they say "girl" because sometimes their legs are crossed etc. Its kind of hard to be wrong on "boy" though. I have heard of at least one instance where it was wrong though.

I just wouldn't go wild buying unless you like the idea of gender neutral. Or you can find a 3d ultrasound clinic and pay for an ultrasound there. They are elective and there are some requirements but its not too bad if you really want a peek. I've seen photos from them too and they do take nice photos.

We were pretty sure we were having a boy but just kept it to ourselves as it was an ultrasound. We have both a boy and girl index card ready with a name on.

We were told our first was a girl. Two weeks before HE was born- after 2 girl baby showers- we found out the truth. To be fair, he was not at all cooperative during the ultrasound and the doctor had a difficult time getting a good look.
The 2nd baby was accurately "labeled", as was the third, but I had a TON of ultrasounds with him so I got to see it over and over again.
I have three boys. All that girl stuff is just waiting to be worn. =)

H.,

The tech was right 4 out of 4 times for me, but I know several people who were told the wrong thing, going both ways (boys to girls, girls to boys.) The biggest issue is when the parents decorated and painted the nursery and bought all the gear (high chair, car seat, stroller, etc.) in something very gender specific. Having a newborn is work enough, trying to undo months of preparation and redo it with a newborn is stressful. Since you already have one of each, this may not effect you.

If the tech is really confident, then chances are she is right. But babies are notorious for giving surprises, so I wouldn't get settled into the idea to the point that it would be upsetting if the tech was wrong.

Good luck,
S.

First off, congratulations on the new baby! What I heard is that if they say it's a girl then there's a chance it could still be a boy, but if they say it's a boy then it's pretty accurate. All just what I heard though. I went to an ultra sound tech at 16 weeks and he told me it was a boy and it was.

Well, the tech was wrong with ALL 3 of my girls :) In fact, they were SO sure with my first, that the doctor didn't even check after I had her, told me it was a boy, and had to come back and tell me it was a girl. Poor kid had an all blue layette AND I had no girls names picked out AT ALL. I will say that technology has come a long way since then and they are probably alot more accurate now. At least you already have one of each so you already have both boy and girl stuff around to use :)

Good luck :)

I think it depends somewhat on the level of ultrasound you receive (for the clarity) and when it is done. I have one friend who was told incorrectly, but it was at a very early ultrasound. The tech who did mine said she would never tell anyone a gender that early. With both my pregnancies (1 boy, 1 girl) we were able to see on the screen very clearly and definitively what they were. However, I think having the boy first was a good comparison for seeing the girl ultrasound later.

For what it's worth, my husband suggested that we do the 3D ultrasound for double-confirmation before I gave away all the boy stuff. "Just to be sure"

Yep! With my first I was told I was having a girl. They were positive. I had two showers with tons of girly things. Went in for a 3D ultrasound and the tech said "what did they tell you?" and I said "a girl". The guy was like "this is NOT a girl" and a few months later, my son was born.

Now with my 2nd, they told me it was a girl and I made lots of people take a look at it to make sure. Sure enough, she was a girl.
