Hi out there. I was wondering if anyone could help or let me know what you are doing. A few friends want me to watch their children full time while they work coming up in the next few months. I am a SAHM to a great 10 mnth old and would love to be able to stay home and watch other kids. My question is, do I need to get extra insurance to cover any accidents? What is everyone charging for in-home care? Just looking for a start so I can make a good decision. Any help would be GREAT!
THANKS!!

What can I do next?

Hi
My mom had an actual "business" she advetised for newborn care in our home and I believe she added a policy to be safe. Best bet-call your insurance co. and find out. Even though it is starting out helping friends, when it comes to hurt kids, your friends won't be your "friends". Play it safe and call. If you are doing it more of a favor than a business, I would think you could get away with no added insurance cost b/c they are under your roof. No different than if the child got hurt at a playdate at your house. I hope that helps-a little :)

Have you checked out what the law is on careing for kids in your home? I chose to do this and one day a knock at the door from a Department of social servises guy occured. I was told be licenced or fined. I believe a neighbor may have said somthing. Are your neighbors cool?

I have friends who watch kids in their homes and when it's only 1-2 kids you do not need insurance or be certified. They've beed doing it for years and had no problems.
