I am in the market to get a new digiial camera. Mine is a panasonic 3.2 MP. So I need something more up to date. I am looking for something reasonable in price at least 8 MP and at least 6 x zoom. Also I need red eye reduction (my kids have blue eyes and red eye is horrible) I am kind of leaning towards a Canon. But would love feedback from everyone. Please tell me about your likes/ dislikes of your cameras or if you have an opinion! I just want some good pics of my kids!

What can I do next?

I have a cannon power shot, it is about 1,5 years old and still works great. It is only a 6mp, but I know they have an 8 MP. If you have a chance go to:

http://www.techlore.com/article/17089/The-Megapixel-Myth?...

It really explains mega pixels and lets you decide if an 8 over a 6 is worth an extra $100 (or a 10 over an 8) Anyway, my camera was very affordable (about $200) and it prints beautiful pictures. Plus it is fast enough to catch a good image of the kids as they go running by! :)

Hi. I own a Nikon digital SLR. I absolutely love my camera. I personally haven't had good luck with Kodak digital cameras or canon but haven't had a canon in years. I had an olympus before my Nikon and really liked it. My mom liked my Olympus so much she went and bought one like it and she recently just upgraded to a newer model Olympus and is very happy with the new one too. Good luck

I have a Fujifilm S700 (got it at Walmart) for about $200. I LOVE IT!! I am pretty sure it has red eye reduction and it has a feature where it will take 2 pictures within a second of each other with and without flash...it is really great. It is a 7.1 megapixel with a 10x zoom! GREAT and light weight. Thye have one on Target's website for just under $200.

I like cnet.com when I'm shopping for new tech stuff. They have tons of product reviews, both by "experts" and people who have actually bought the stuff and lived with it. Plus, it lists different places to purchase, both in-stores and on-line. It's a very handy site!
I too am camera-shopping. I had a Canon PowerShot all picked out, when hubby said maybe we should get one of the BIG ones, with changeable lenses, etc, waaay more high-tech than I'm used to. So, it's back to reading reviews and checking prices, heh. Boy, I feel your pain!!!

I LOVE my new Canon Rebel EOS xti digital slr. I get all the perks of my old slr camera plus the joys of digital. I used it for a huge photo shoot at a friends kennel for her dogs and the pictures turned out increadible. The action mode is so much fun too! The lens can be pricy but shop around, all Cannon lenses work with it too.
Best of luck!

Hi K.,

My husband has a Cannon Rebel. I can't remember which model, but he recently upgraded and gave our 13 yo daughter the old one and then they share lenses. I've also got a dear friend with the Rebel. She and my husband always campare notes and she recently started a photography business. Mostly still pictures but some portrait as well.

Good Luck and in good health.
