My friend and I have joined a gym. We joined at the same time because we didn't want to do it alone either. It makes the workout part a lot easier.
I want to join a gym, but I am just not motivated to do it alone. Does anyone already have a membership, or interested in getting one? Want someone to chit chat, take classes with at the gym?
Thanks for all the replies.. However, I am in Pleasant Hill, ca and most of the prelies are from people too far away. Guess I should have put that in the question. I checked into the stoller stride group, but there are none close enough.. Maybe I'll look into setting up my own franchise? ;o) Im still looking though if anyone out there is interested.

Hi
Try www.babybootcamp.com
they may have a franchise near you
Good luck
There's a YMCA in Pleasant Hill: Irwin Deutscher Family YMCA on Civic Dr. Gonna toot my husband's horn here but he works for the Y in SF & since we live in El Cerrito, we're members of the Berkeley Y. You should check the Pleasant Hill Y I mentioned. They all have Childwatch (daycare for an hourly fee) for when you're working out. I left our oldest son, now 6.5 years, starting at 8 months & our younger son, now almost 2 years, starting at 8 weeks. They both loved it! My older son doesn't get to go as much now that he's in K & always asks to go on the weekends. Most Y's also have a good selection of classes for toddlers & also offer swimming lessons. If money is an issue, look into their scholorship program for memberships. I believe there's also a discount if you have Kaiser. Good luck!
I am apart of 24 Hour Fitness at Sherman Oaks, if you are interested.

i just recently joined stroller strides in redlands, i'm not sure where you live but they seem to have them in quite a few cities. i have the same problem of no motivation, so i think this will really help!
Hi B.. I'm sure it is tough moving, even for grown folks. Well i know you kind of live up in the hills. I'm down in the valley (sacramento) but not too far. I have a few things in common with you. I have a friend that does scrapbooking like once a month at a community center where us and a few other women go and do our thing. We all get together every so often to get away, even if its just for dinner.
I work at an after school program. So understand about getting your credentials. Lots of luck!

Have you looked into Stroller Strides? You can go to www.strollerstrides.com to find the class closest to you and your first class is free. You will meet lots of moms to socialize with and your daughter will make friends and have a chance to play, too!
i have a memeerships to 24 hr fitness .. but dislike going alone
Where is Pleasant Hill? I just joined 24 hour fitness!!! I go during lunch.
Hey Brandi,
I would check out Stroller Strides. You can take your daughter with you. Go to their website at www.strollerstrides.com and find a location near you. I will tell you that it was a life saver for me. I didn't know anyone in my area and when I had my son, it was even harder for me not to know anyone. But when I joined Stroller Strides, I met a ton of mom just like me and my son met other fantastic kids. We now know other people in our area and have playdates and moms nights out. It is great. Check it out. Best part is, you get a great workout, your daughter is with you and not with some teenager in the gym daycare, and you are making new friends while you are at it. What could be better.
Good luck!!
Not sure where pleasant hill is.. but im in Sacramento.. and have a membership at Cal Family Fitness... Been looking for a partner myself.. didnt think to even begin to look here..
:-)

Hello....and welcome to your new home! Have you considered joining Curves? Not only is it great workout (30 minutes for full body strength training AND aerobic in a circuit), but most of the clubs in which I have worked out,had a trainer in the middle of the circuit who not only directed and motivated my workout, but also introduced the others to me and now I have so many more friends in the area.....all because of Curves!
I'm not sure where you are. We're in Manteca. And I'm looking for someone to walk the trail with or join a gym with as well. I'm totally over what weight i should b but hate doing things by myself.
Sorry, I don't live near you, but have you struck up a conversation with the other moms in your daughter's classes? They might be in the same boat. Or other moms that you see at the playground, etc. I always seem to run into the same people at the playground, because we always seem to go at the same time of morning, and so do all the other mom/kids. I met a group of mom/kids at my daugther's Tumblebear class. We'd see each other each week, but the friendship was really blossomed when I threw my daughter's 2nd birthday party and invited that class. After that, the other kids had birthday parties and we decided to get together more often for playdates. That was four years ago. Since then we have all had subsequent children and we get together 3 times a week with our double jogging strollers to walk 4 miles 3x/week. If you organize a playdate at a park or something, you'll get a chance to talk to all of hese moms and then you can find out if any of them need to "get fit" too!
