I'm researching preschools for my 3 year old daughter. Has anyone ever used the Waldorf style education?

What can I do next?

My children, ages 6 and 9, attend a Waldorf school in Sebastopol and we love it. It is very in tune with the development of the child and meeting them where they are, rather than pushing academics at an early age. I will also be sending my toddler to a Waldorf preschool when she is ready.

I've heard great things about Waldorf teaching. Can you let me know which school you're looking at? I'm lost on preschools in this area (new to town). I have a 4 year old who I want in preschool.

My 3 year old son is in the Waldorf preschool and my 5 year old daughter is in the kindergarten. I love the methods used at Waldorf, they incorporate a rythym that parallels real life. If you are interested in this type of education, I strongly suggest reading about not only the methods used but the philosophies behind why they do what they do. It will give you a greater understanding and appreciation for the teachers and their commitment to your child. Good luck and feel free to ask any other questions.

I cannot say enough great things about Waldorf. Beautiful daily rhythms, very nature focused and natural in its approach. Very reverent of the magic of childhood, incredibly creative. Our daughter goes to a waldorf preschool in SF - Friends of Potrero Hill. They're having an open house Saturday Feb 2.

There is a wonderful Waldorf preschool in Petaluma called Heart and Hands preschool, owned and operated by Donyu Catino. My daughter attended for 4 years and I worked there for a year to see if I wanted to become a Waldorf teacher. We had wonderful experiences with this preschool. My daughter went on the Marin Waldorf School for 5 years, then to public school and she's now in high school. The Waldorf foundation she got has given her a great outlook on life and herself and she's a lovely young woman.

Nicole,

I would look into Montessori schools in your area. I LOVE the Montessori Method and can give you more detail why if you like.
