Vulvar Variscosities in Pregnancy

Has anyone endured vulvar variscosities in pregnancy? If so, did they completely go away after delivery? How far afterward? Was there residual pain? Did the swelling reside?

I am pregnant with my second child...whereas I did not experience this issue with my first child, I am suffering from very painful vulvar variscosities with this second pregnancy. I also have developed a few varicose veins of the thigh coming down from the vulvar region.

The whole thing is painful and uncomfortable!

Did anyone have varicose vein surgery to remove them?

Hi there

I was exactly the same, none with first and two painful engorged ones with the second. I too was worried they would not go away after birth but the pressure and swelling was relieved immediately after giving birth. And a week later they were just a distant memory :) All the best for the rest of the pregnancy

Cheers L.

Just reading your post brings back the horrible swelling, pain and discomfort! This is definitely one of those things you never knew could happen during pregnancy.

Luckily, they go away right after delivery. Woosh!

Good luck!

Try accupunture it helps so many things that I am sure it will help. I just read about it and it says a maturnity support belt
is good for this.

Unfortunately, I did experience this with my first and now my current pregnancies. They weren't as severe the first time around and I didn't wear any type of support. They went away right after birth. This time around I am experiencing much more discomfort which has been helped immensely by wearing an underbelly support band as well as maternity compression stockings all day. I am now at 34 weeks and considering buying one of the more advanced support belts as they are continuing to worsen. Here is a sample of the ones amazon has to offer:

Good luck, hope they disappear quickly for you also!

Not fun. Mine did mostly resolve after delivery, but seem to flare at certain times in my cycle, although not consistently.

They should go away after you deliver. Not right away but within the first 6 weeks or so. I had horrible veins down there after pushing out my first. Horrible! They went away. I can't imagine that surgery would be necessary.
