I'm trying to decide between two choices for the best gift to give the six-year-olds attending my daughter's birthday party.

book (like Biscuit, Mittens, and other small level 1 and 2 readers)
or
balloon

What do you think?

What can I do next?

I have done books before. Its a good one. You can do that everytime with different titles. When my kid has book orders I go online and stock the $1 books. Good simple stories good gift.

why are you giving gifts to the party goers? is this in lieu of party favors (which I hate lol) or are they prizes for games? I never give gifts to the party goers they are at the party for a fun time lol. But out of those 2 choices I would go books always. skip the balloons.

If you had to pick, I'd go book, but why not just do both? You could always tie the balloons to the books. I will say that at least in our area, not sure if it's everywhere, there is a shortage on helium, so if you're getting balloons of any kind, make sure you plan ahead!

I vote books.. The books can be used over and over and encourage reading.

One year I happened on some Artsets on closeouts for about $5 each. I gought them and included a coloring book for the gift and they were a huge hit.

A slice of cake and a thank you card. The books would be good prizes for games.

I vote for the book. I believe reading is very important. They'll have the book for months, the balloon will last only a few days.

Books will last longer than balloons, so that would be my choice.

If it has to be those two the book, the balloon is for 123year olds.

I vote coloring book and maybe a small pack of new crayons. I know I'd love that at that age!

It depends what kind of balloon it is? Helium would be nicer. Actually, for my dd's 6th bday, we made goodie bags with small items from the dollar store (buy the bags of party favors -sometimes you can get 8-12 things for a dollar), then tie a balloon on the bag. You can use these for decorations, then give them to the kids when they leave.
