Probably the flu-don't waste another minute-take the baby to be seen-today-go to the ER if you have to and good luck!
Julia is almost 3 years old. Vomiting for two days with fever, then rash appeared on belly and face. Fever up and down, no more vomiting. Her mother thinks it is roseola, but when I research that, no vomiting involved. What can this be? Urging visit to doctor.-a concerned grandmother, with great respect for the wisdom and knowledge I have read on this site over the last 3 years.

Absolutely she should not make assumptions or try to diagnose on her own or go online to find "help." She needs to get the child to a doctor today and not wait. Could be nothing, could be serious, as other people have noted. Rash and fever are also present in meningitis, which can be deadly. Or it could be as simple as roseola. ONLY a doctor can tell.
Strep throat can also come with vomiting. I would get a throat culture. Roseola usually has a very high fever for a few days and then the rash presents itself, I haven't heard of vomiting with that virus. Best to get it checked out, untreated strep throat can be dangerous.
If her throat is sore- it could be scarlet fever (a relative of Strep). Not super serious when treated right away. But I do recommend at least calling the doc. The nurse at least over the phone can usually tell if it's serious by a description of symptoms.
Have her checked for strep throat. It can cause vomiting and also one of my kids got scarlet fever from strep and got a rash on her stomach. No sore throat even so I'd get her to the doctor to be checked. Is her tongue red when she sticks it out?
Here is one link. It may be something completely different and rashes are very hard to diagnose without seeing them.

I would call the doctor to rule out meningitis.
Just to be safe.
Your provider may have a question answering service/advice hot line.
It most likely won't be that but it is always best to err on the side of safety.
The rash may be a result of her body fighting infection. My daughter had viral hives. her body was fighting a viral infection that she broke out in hives. Vomiting comes from her fever. I would take her to the dr. to make sure but she may have the flu or some other virus. alternate ibuprofen and acetametaphine every 4 hours to keep the fever down and PLENTY of fluids. use calamine lotion for the rash. good luck and keep us updated!
Friends toddler had Rubella, which looks like Roseola, but the puking bit is present.
Doctor should be first stop whenever rash and fever are present. Doctors, good ones, would rather you err on the side of caution than let it alone to chance.
Hope she feels better.
My first thoughts were already on here -- Rubella, roseola, scarlet fever, or fifth's disease (although I'm not sure they all include vomiting). She absolutely should see a doctor, especially if there are other children or pregnant women around her. Fifth's can be very dangerous to a pregnant woman, and I had it a few years ago (not pregnant) and it was horrible as an adult. A proper diagnosis will dictate treatment and preventative measures.
A visit to the doctor does seem in order. If mom doesn't want to take her then at least encourage her to call an Ask A Nurse line. They are very helpful in giving advice and letting you know if you should wait it out or take the child in. I'm sure you have one in your area, just google it. They are usually run by hospitals and are totally free. You will have to give your personal info, but they just use it to store information.
I would call your pediatrician's answering service. They usually have a nurse you can talk to, or call Ask-a-Nurse provided through your local hospital or insurance company. Many areas have urgent care facilities or walk-in clinics available.
It sounds like it is the flu or roseola, but you cannot know for sure unless you talk with a nurse or doctor. You don't want her to get dehydrated from the vomiting. I would at least call, but if she doesn't seem to be getting better after two days, then I would definitely go for a visit. Hope she feels better soon!

It's possible she might have had a stomach bug along with something else.
This is a great site for identifying rashes:

A rash can just be a reaction to an infection. My son tends to get viral hives. If that is it, liquid Benadryl can help. I would take her to the doctor just to make sure, though, because a rash can also indicate a different problem, like the flu or meningitis.
Thank you for the thoughtful responses- it was scarlet fever. Did not know vomiting could be part of strep. She didn't complain of sore throat.
Thank you!
My two n one year old has fifth decease its a Rodney cheeks like slapped cheeks with a rest lacy rash throughout the body low grade fever once cheeks get roses there not contagious and it last five weeks. Plus have ear infections now tey both have thrown up to get mucus out she needs to be seen by a dr.
Definitely make sure your granddaughter gets to the doctor. Could be "viral hives", but it could also be something more serious. No one's mentioned rheumatic fever yet- it can be deadly if the heart valves are affected. I just took my daughter to the daughter on Sunday for Strep throat, and one of the first questions they asked was, "is there a rash?"
