I've been taking my pre-natal vitamins. Can the vitamins cause your simptoms to increase. Here's what I mean.
Yesterday I ate one small cup of cereal no milk or anything. Felt pretty good.
Got to work and made myself some oatmeal I took my pre-natal vits and then soon after I couldn't finish my oatmeal and for the rest of the day I couldn't eat anything else my stomache felt like it was full but my body said I was ungry it hurt to try and eat something. The next day I didn't take any vits and I could eat my stomache hurt a little but I was able to nibble and help my nausea.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I tried disolving my pill and only the outer pink coating disolved. I even ran hot water over my pill. and it still didn't disolve. I will try another brand and I will start taking it at night. I will see if this helps.
Well I tried taking children vitamins. My stomache was just not happy. So I just took the children vitamins when I could.

Know I am 10 weeks along and I'm able to take my regular vitamins again. I am going to get prescribed vitamins from the doctor when I see them again.

So I'm feeling much better.

Thanks to everyone that replied.

Hi.
The same thing happened to me, only worse, when I was pregnant with my first child. I asked my dr. about it and she switched my pre-natal vitamin to Premesis which helped a lot. There are some vitamins that are easier to tolerate than others. Also, not taking vitamins on an empty stomach helps too.

Hope things improve.

Hi K.,

I have always had a very sensitive stomach and I am currently 7 weeks pregnant with my 4th child. I also received the recommendation to take my prenatal vitamins at night and that seems to work really well for me. I will usually have a piece of toast first though. The brand also seems to make a difference for me at least. I take 'Nature Made', out of all the brands I've tried these seem to be the easiest on my stomach and they even sell the big bottles at Costco.

Good Luck with your pregnancy!
M.

Hi Krisin,
I couldn't take the prenatal vitamins during my pregnancy. They made me very ill, similiar to what you've described. But you need the vitamins for you and the baby, so don't just stop taking them. Call your doctor and let them know what is going on. My doctor suggested two (2) Flintstones chewable vitamins instead of the prenatals.
Best wishes,
TRUDI

With my first pregnancy I had the same problem with some Prenatals my Dr. gave me. Ask your Dr. to switch you to a different brand. Sometimes that works. It did for me.

Yes, vitamins always hurt my stomach, pregnant or not and I have a very strong stomach. I take the Nature Made also and buy them at Costco. I took them through my entire pregnancy and had no problems. I even purchased NON prenatal vitamins from a health food store recommended by the clerk and they hurt my stomach and made my head tingle when I touched it. Even Costco's brand daily vitamin packs hurt my stomach. Keep trying, you need them.

Hi K.:

First of all, I wanted to mention to you that I am so thrilled for you!!! I have three children. Every time I was pregnant I got so amazed at what a miracle they are and the way they develop.
I wanted to tell you that not all prenatal vitamins are created equal. A lot of vitamins off the shelf at the store don't do anything but sit there until it's time for your body to pass them through. I would take one of those vitamins, put it in a glass of water. It should start dissolving immediately. If it doesn't, it's probably not worth the money you're paying for it.
I am completely sold on vitamins that Melaleuca makes. This company has scientists that are right there at the manufacturing plant making sure that they're of the best quality. If you're not familiar with this company, you can just go to www.melaleuca.com. Go to the product store and look at their prenatal vitamins. They are the best of the best. I am partial because I just found this company in March and everything that they have is geared toward the health of your family. All products are natural, safe for the environment and good for you. All the prices are listed by the PC-preferred customer.
If you are interested in their products, you can email me directly because a person becomes a customer by being referred by another customer. This month is a FANTASTIC time to become a customer though. They're offering $100 in free products over the next three months!! It would be a great way for you to try out their items for free. I would love to get you more information on this company if you're interested. They don't just sell supplements, but there are over 350 products that this company manufactures and sells. I do not sell any of their products, I just refer people to them because I have so much confidence in them and love them for myself and my family!!
My email is: ____@____.com
Hope this helps!!

Yes, vitamins can make you nauseous. Try taking them right before bed and with a little food (like a yogurt or piece of cheese). I found that they didn't bother me if I took them at night but did if I took them in the morning.

Do your prenatals have iron in them? Vits with minerals always make me nauseous. The dr said its the iron. When I needed iron, I took iron alone at night with food. That helped.

sounds like you should try taking your vitamin BEFORE bed. if that doesnt work ask your dr for a new vitamin, one without a stool softener if yours has one. i had to quit taking mine cause of that problem! good luck :)
