Vitamin Nausea All of a Sudden

Anyone have this happen?

I've been taking the same multi-vitamin forever (well, probably since college when I wised up and realized that I need to take care of my body). I take it in the morning either right before or right after I have breakfast. Now when I take the vitamin, I feel like I am going to throw up. I never do and I doubt I would, but I just get awful nausea and get 'that feeling' in the back of my throat. The only significant changes in my life have been 4 months of exceptionally healthy eating (maybe I'm getting all my vitamins/minerals from the best supplement ever - food - and my body's saying "ugh! no more!") and a weight loss of 30 pounds (finally got all that baby weight off).

This is just puzzling to me since I've never experiences this and have taken this particular vitamin for nearly 24 years. Anyone else have this issue?

What can I do next?

That was my first thought - pregnant? But first, let me applaud you for taking care of yourself. Believe it or not, none of us get all the nutrients and vitamins and minerals that our body's require even when we do eat healthy. Unless you are eating all organic, non-processed, whole grain, 6-8 servings of fresh veggies and fruit, no meat, 8 glasses of water a day, detoxing your body, then MAYBE you won't need vitamins. Does that fit the bill? If not, I would be happy to send you a sample of the vitamins that I take. Our ORAC value is at 8000 and the recommended minimum is 2500 and I truly feel great - we do not overexceed the amounts of vitamins that the body can use - sometimes too much of a vitamin is toxic!

It sounds too like you might need to detox your body as well. I am pretty versed in vitamins and would love to talk with you and send you a sample of what I take. It's all sugar free, chemical free, vegan is only made with the purest ingredients from nature and food elements. It has changed my health tremendously. You just may need a change! Truly, we all need vitamins and I can explain why if you would like. Just email me back. Take that pregnancy test too. Best of luck to you!

Pregnant? ;)

Good for you for taking vitamins and for the great change in diet habits!

Maybe just try a different vitamin and see if you have the same reaction. Maybe your body is getting an overload (like you mentioned). If you are truly getting all that you need from eating healthy, it may be a waste to take the vitamin anyway.

After reading Karen's post I should add that I'm not well-versed on a "proper diet" and (I admit) I don't eat as well as I SHOULD. I'm not a junker or anything, but I don't have extensive knowledge on the benefits of eating healthy (aside from the general knowledge that you should).

hey,
have you taken a preggo test?noticed some said the nausea could be that or else, if you've changed your diet your system is more in tune to the overdose of a multi vitamin. i use juice plus and this is why, i have hypothyroidism and in my early 30's a doctor told me about how whole food is better than a vitamin. i order from www.yourdailyservings.com. C. is great, same name by the way..I had trouble getting pregnant and this stuff helped lower my homocysteine level, which is shown to cause miscariiages (or general health issues) in additiino my hypo is auto immune and it helped with my immune system(balanced it) .hope that helps and congrats on your recent 30 lb weight loss. i have a 3 month old boy and am ready to start the weight loss (still nursing and waking at night) with some more exercise. i have a 3 year old daughter so i take her while daddy watches baby, on bike rides and walks. 4 weddings this year 3 to go so i have that as my goal. what kind of workout did you do? need to get motivated!

Sometimes taking the vitamin during your meal helps so it gets digested along with your food. Otherwise you don't have food in your stomach or you digest your food and then digest you vitamins the latter being better than on the empty stomach. It could also be the type of vitamin. See if you could get samples of other kinds to try them out.

Mine does the same thing and I'm not pregnant, but it happens about a week before my cycle and during my cycle. So somehow I think this is related to hormones.

I experienced the exact same thing.....turned out I was pregnant. Take a test, just to be on the safe side. Both my kids were conceived on birth control....the pill and nuva ring.
