Okay - so usually I'm full of ideas, but it seems the birthday gods have it in for me this year! My daughter really wanted her party to be on her birthday, since it's a weekend this year. The place she wanted, GymQuest, is unavailable that day. Then she decided on rollerskating, but the only place I could find won't let us bring a cake in - they supply it, and its a plain old freezer cake - I like to get something special. We're bounce-housed out.
I know it seem a little high maintenance, but we only have a party every other year - so I like it to be special! Any ideas?
Oh,we live in Plainfield!

Thanks a ton for your suggestions!

Universal spirit yoga in Naperville does yoga parties that are great. The color me mine places are great- the kids paint ceraimcs--so fun.

Plainfield Art Factory is a fun place to do a party, so is Plainfield Art League
You can do mini golf at the Louis Joliet Mall too, or a cheap movie at the dollar theatre by the Barnes and Nobles.

both the Joliet and Plainfield park districts have party options as well

My daughter's last party was at a pottery place, Color Me Mine, in front of the AMC theaters at Route 59 & 95th St. in Naperville. We were able to bring our own cake, the staff there did all the work & the girls had a great time. There is a pottery place in Plainfield too but I haven't been there. I think it's downtown. The only bad thing is that you have to go back a week later to pick up the finished pottery & then deliver it to the guests. We had her 6th birthday party at My Gym near the Fox Valley Mall. That was also very nice but I'm not sure how much they would have for 8 year olds. My daughter has attended a few bowling/arcade parties at Brunswick Zone. She always has fun at those. There are some places in Frankfort that are similar to Libby Lu & Pretty In Pink but I don't know if you want to go that far. International Ice Center & the Joliet Park District do ice skating parties. Joliet & Bolingbrook park districts do indoor swimming parties. I think the Plainfield Park District does horseback riding parties. Eich's Sports in Plainfield does parties. My daughter attended a dodgeball/pizza party there once. Good Luck & I hope your daughter enjoys her party! It is hard to come up with something original.
