Venue

I am in search of a venue for my daughter's graduation / birthday party (they're less than 30 days apart). We want to stay away from restaurants because we're hiring a DJ. She doesn't want JW Marriott, VFW or church banquet halls / rec halls.

Does anyone have an idea of a nice place? We are on the NE side of San Antonio and would like to stay NE, North Central, Selma, Universal City (if there is anything there?). Please don't suggest "a hotel" - There are a ton of them...I'm looking for a specific hotel that hopefully someone has had an experience with.

We'll have about 100 people and would like to keep it at about $40 per person, if possible...

PS: Doing it at my house is not possible, as we live in 3/2 with a small backyard...100 peeps and a DJ won't fit...

What can I do next?

Just saw Friday's posts, sorry for the late response. Someone mentioned Rio Cibolo Ranch. My wedding reception was there. It went very well. It was 12 years ago, but I would guess that with the cost of the place and food, $40 a person should be doable. Send me a message if you have any questions.

Not knowing the area specifically, I would suggest that you check into a community center. I'd also look for wedding reception facilities since what you want to do is not far from what they cater to. Also, you might see if there is a Junior League building in your community that will lease their space for this event.

Check out the Schertz Community or Civic Center. Both are beautiful and I know they rent out for parties all the time

What about having it at a park or musume or the zoo.

My nephew's graduation party a few years ago was held at Castle Avalon. It is a bit out of the city, near New Braunfels, but not too far--and SOOO cool! I don't know much about prices but I think you could probably get something nice in the $40/head price range. Here is the website if you want to check it out: http://www.castleavalon.com/index.htm.
Good luck!

Have you considered local karaoke bars?? You could rent during the day. I'm going to a baby shower hosted at a karaoke bar, unconventional but fun.

Have you considered just doing it at your house and having it catered? I know of several great caterers in San Antonio.

You could also do it at a park (Japanese Tea Garden is great and beautiful!).

Good luck!
