Hi, I had the same problem. It's funny how fast you can forget that kind of thing. First thing I recommend is not to put rice cereal in bottles. It's actually not good for babies. The purpose of starting solids is not really to add nutrition, but to get them used to eating with a spoon and used to chewing. What I always did was start by making a small bowl of any kind of grain (oat, rice, etc.) cereal (1-2T) once or twice a day to practice, although there's no reason you have to start with cereal at all. Then, once they were eating thicker cereal, I would eventually start adding in a vegetable once or twice a day with her lunch/dinner cereal. I try to wait 2-3 days before trying a new vegetable to make sure there's no allergy. Once I got through all the veggies, I start fruits. Hope this helps!

At that age, I gave a little at lunch and some at her last feeding at night.

And when I say a little, I'm talking about maybe a few pieces of avacado mashed up, or a few tablespoons of jar food, or pureed veggies. The oatmeal I saved for the nightime feeding before bed and I probably would make about 1/4 cup. I did not add it to her bottle. Maybe your dd still has her thrusting reflex which causes her to spit out alot of food. She should lose that pretty soon which will make spoon-feeding easier.

We started veggies and fruits at 5 months. At 6 months we did a fruit in he morning and a veggie for dinner. I make her baby food. It's so easy!

With our first daughter we started 3 meals a day at 9 months. You kind of have to follow their hunger ques. Our older daughter was more gung ho about eating, but our now 7 month old isn't.

Keep trying with he rice cereal, it takes time for them to get used to that texture. Make sure it's fairly thin to start. I wouldnt suggest putting the cereal in the bottle. Our pediatrician was is against that... It doesn't teach them to eat solids.

Once they master the cereal you can start to mix in a fruit or veggie. We started with avocado. We do one new food for 3 days to make sure there are no issues then move on. We started the oatmeal cereals and yogurt at 9 months.

I'd wait another month to start solids... starting solids should not be a race, and it actually detracts from nutrition because baby foods and cereals are lacking in any nutritional value with the amounts they are able to consume as infants. Starting solids is mainly to get them used to textures, not have 3 full meals a day.
