Hey S.!
familyfun.go.com has great ideas. One of them I liked a lot was to cut out paper hearts of all sizes and colors, put some love messages on them and tape them to the door. Have fun!
Looking for some ideas on cheaper valentines day gifts for my husband and my 1 year old son. Any creative ideas out there?
Hey S.!
familyfun.go.com has great ideas. One of them I liked a lot was to cut out paper hearts of all sizes and colors, put some love messages on them and tape them to the door. Have fun!
We don't usually even buy gifts...but my husband got way into landscaping last summer and I found a garden center that offers a "do it yourself landscaper's tips" session that I'm signing him up for! Only $20.
A VERY cheap gift idea for your husband I have is one of my favorites. I make coupons. I grab out all my crafting supplies and cut paper and bend them into tiny cards. I decorate the cover with sayings like Coupon...Free (look inside) sayings like that. Inside I'll put free coupon for back massage, free coupon to plow snow, free coupon to cut the grass, free coupon to well, some dirty ones i'll throw in there. So basically you'll do the jobs he hates doing or the jobs he likes getting. I'll put experation dates like a year from the date or a couple of months. You can put them into a cute decorated box or a cigar box. It's a fun gift and very cheap. Have fun with it. You know what your husband likes and doesn't like.
Good Luck.
Sorry, I don't have an idea for your child. I'm still thinking of something for my own.

How about a nice dinner with his favorite foods.
S. - I think your one year old would like a <plastic/laminated> photo of you, your husband or together – put on a heart. Let him show you where to hang it each day…. Or start playing ‘find’ the heart games with him. As for your husband, a nice simple meal together ~ maybe just a picnic on the living room floor or just a quiet evening of snuggle time on the couch once jr. is in bed…..
For a card for your husband make one too!! A photo of you and your son, put in a heart for him to ‘carry’ to work each day…….
How about a build a bear gift...take him to build a bear and he can help to make his own bear...you can get the least expensive one which is around 10.00.
Not sure what to get your husband...what does he like? A magazine subscription...a nice dinner...maybe you could plan a family day to visit a museum or something.
Last Valentine's day I got a tie for my husband from my daughter that had her picture all over it for him for Father's Day from my daughter. He thought it was really cute and so did everyone who saw it. I got it at www.personalizationmall.com but I looked and some of the photo sites like SnapFish had them as well. It was not very expensive.
Good Luck.
How about if you make Valentine's cookies with your daughter...for your husband? She would LOVE it, and he would too!
What about father-son t-shirts? RedEnvelope.com has some really cool stuff but it's not on the cheap side. Still, take a look and I'm sure you could some similar ideas for a lot less.
You could do Pots n' Paints and decorate something with your daughter for your husbands. A simple card with some of her chicken marks on it. A cake :) A photo of the both of you in a frame. Good luck!
S.~ I am a consultant for Once Upon a Family who helps families connect, teach values, and start traditions. Although our products may not be as "cheap" as you would like, you may be able to use some of the ideas in our Gifts of Love Collection for your hubby and little boy for Valentines Day. You can check out my website at www.makingfamilyfirst.com. I hope you get some great ideas!!
If you work outside the house, ask your male co-workers for suggestions for gifts for your husband. Sure, handmade pottery and sticker pictures are great, memorable, and cute but wouldn't that be like (to steal a line from another post on another topic) your husband getting you a really cool nail gun or socket set?
I always ask my male co-workers for gift ideas because my husband is impossible to shop for. He already has a ton of pictures of cutesty knick-knacks at work and doesn't need anymore. Fortunately, my guys always come through for me with some great suggestions.
So talk to the boys and see what they suggest!
Hi S.!
I happen to be a romance enhancement specialist! My listing is on mamasource as well. (Slumber Parties by M.)
May I make a suggestion?
We have some really fun and romantic products that are sure to make your Valentine's Day romantic and special! For example, we carry a product called 52 weeks of naughty nights game. It comes with cards for you and cards for him, and you switch who gets a card, 1 per week. Then whoever gets the card, has that whole week to do what's on the card for their partner. It's really classy and has some fun ideas on it! That is only $13.00!!!
There is also a game called poker for lovers, which basically is just like poker, except there are chips for him, and chips for you with romantic activities on them. You decide how much you want to bet! That product is only $25.00!
That's just the beginning! I sell anything you'd need to spend some fun, and unique time with your partner, and you never have to leave home to get it! You can order straight from my website!

And, for your 1 year old son, May I suggest going to walgreens and getting one of those valentine's plush toys that move and do a song and dance! My daughter LOVES LOVES LOVES hers, and we get her a new one every year that we pull out JUST for V-Day!
I hope that helps! If you have any questions, just email me at: ____@____.com
Good Luck!
Hi S.,
I work for The Picture People at Charlestowne Mall in St. Charles (Cortland isn't very far from there?) We'll take wonderful portraits of you and your son together with adorable Valentine's themed props! (How about a large candy heart that says LOVE YOU ?) You can gift a framed photo of the two of you for just $29!
See what I'm suggesting at:

Super Target has a dollar bin area. Usually there is a mixture of kids stuff and adults stuff. $20 would buy quite a few fun, little things. Have a scavenger hunt looking for them. =)
pour non toxic acrylic paint onto a plate
dip your baby's booty in the paint
"stamp" your baby's booty on a piece of paper
write your baby's name and the date underneath
let it dry
you can get creative and draw a stem on top to make it look like an apple, or a head and body down the middle to make it look like a butterfly
i like it without those additions, personally
frame it
let your husband guess what it is
not something you can get away with often, but one year i covered a small table by the front door with photographs of the two of us, a few lit candles, and a card. very inexpensive, but he seemed to like it.
