Vaginal Soreness Ad Swelling?

I've been having vaginal soreness and swelling since last night and I was wondering if it's a normal thing since I'm in my last trimester. I don't have a yeast infection, STD's, any bladder, UTI's or kidney infections. And since I've been having problems with preterm labor this pregnancy, no sex since last week. It's getting really uncomfortable and I just want to know if it's normal and why (if you know). Thanks ladies.

What can I do next?

When I hit about 7 months with my last pregnancy I was constantly sore. There was so much pressure and soreness, I seriously thought she might fall out! It was the way she was laying. She didn't fall out, and she came the day before her due date. :)

I think its totally normal. Im about 6 months and I have soreness from the pressure and the stretching of stuff..lol. It has always been worse for me in the last trimester. Feels like you got kicked or something. But if your really concerned, it wont hurt to call your OB.

I don't know how far along you are, but I definitely felt like my vagina was going to fall out in the last couple of weeks--oh, the indignities visited upon us by pregnancy .

I had my daughter at 37.5 weeks and had done modified Jazzercise until 35 weeks...then it was just too much pressure on everything. I also felt like I could feel the two ends of my pubic bones rubbing against each other...most likely ligaments stretching.

Anything unusual is also worth a call to your midwife or OB, but it doesn't sound all that alarming to me.

I'm pretty sure it's normal (and common) b/c you become very dry during pregnancy. I can also be attributed to the softening of bones, spreading of the hips and the baby just laying differently and stretching odd muscles, especially in this phase of pregnancy.

I guess I'd be surprised if you weren't swollen "down there" at this late stage of pregnancy. You don't mention how far you are but I'm fairly certain this is very common with a lot of women. I've had 3 children, 23 weeks preg. with my 4th, and I can say that the nether-regions do get very uncomfortable towards the very end of pregnancy. Think about all the weight and pressure being exerted "down there." Talk to your doctor but I'm sure you are as normal as the rest of us who've been there too!

oh yeah, I think it's normal. Probably just an increase in pressure due to the baby's growth. I know with my second from about 7 months I had tons of pressure/soreness. I thought the kid was going to fall out!!! But no, just put more pressure as I got to my third trimester. Good luck and congrats :D

It's very normal to have both swelling & soreness. The soreness is probably your pubic bones shifting to allow the baby to fit through. And the soreness is the extra concentration of blood to your vaginal area. It's very normal in pregnancy. If you are still worried, contact your OB to be certain.
Good luck!
