I have switched my kids pediatrician a few times in the last couple of years because we thought we were moving... recently discovered we are not but I'd like to find a doctor who's more flexible about vaccines than our old doc... any ideas in the area... I'm willing to drive a little but I'd prefer someone as close as possible?

I'm familiar with dr. sears' list but there isn't anyone on it who is close to me, closest is irvine...

thanks so much!

What can I do next?

I see Dr Alexander Maneffa in long Beach. He is with Health Care Partners and from the beginning I told him I was going to follow Dr Sears selective vaccine schedule and he accepted my decision. He never tried to sell me the other way. I carry the book with me to all Dr appts and have never had any problems. Email me if you have any questions. Good luck

Don't forget to check out Family practice doctors-- a lot of them seem more flexible than pediatricians!

The Doctor Sears sight gives listings for doctors that do the alternative vaccination schedule. Here is a link to their site:

We had the same problem in the Upland/Rancho Cucamonga area after switching to Kaiser last year. The way we found our current ped was to talk to other moms and grandmas in the area. And even then, the first one we went with was *AWFUL*. We dug a little deeper and have been thoroughly appreciative of the new one. It's not like our new ped doesn't hope we'll eventually do all of the vaccinations, but she respects that we have educated ourselves and have come up with something (with the guidance of the ped we had through Blue Cross) we can support and will abide.

interesting....i live further south sorry no suggestion, but always remember that you are the parent and can give your kid/kids vaccines on whatever schedule you want....as long as its not faster than the regular schedule. i skewed our MMR vaccine and didn't do all of them at the same time. you are the parent and that means sometimes you need to advocate for your kids.

Drs. Wagoner/Culmer/Lin in San Pedro accept our decisions. They still encourage vaccinations, but were okay with us slowing them down, and there are some vaccinations we never gave our kids and they are not questioning us about it.
The number there is ###-###-####.
Be forewarned, Culmer and Wagoner are big proponents of a vegan diet. We agree with them on some things, but not on a totally meatless diet.
