My son just turned a year and I know he needs his 12 month shots, however with all this hipe going on about autism and the MMR vaccine it makes me really nervous.
I want to stagger his shots and I was wondering if anyone knows of a pediatrician who gives the MMR vaccine in single vials and not all three in one shot. If so, please give the dr's name. Thank you in advance.

What can I do next?

Dear Ann,

I had similar concerns with my son...he's 2 years old...however, after speaking with his pediatrician and doing my own research, there is no proof that these vaccines are related to autism.....it was suspected some time ago because a child had not received any shots from birth so they were given, I think 4-5 shots at once......a bit much in one round.....

In any event my son's doctor put me at ease and besides, they really do need the shots. In the end, it is your decision.

Thanks.

Hello Ann,

I'm assuming you already requested to have his MMR staggered and your pediatrician refused? I don't honestly remember my son's exact vac. schedule (he's now 22 months), but I do like his doctor very much, Dr. Kemp at East Cobb Pediatrics. There are several doctors there, but she's my favorite, and oddly enough, she does not have any children of her own. I find her to be the best listener and the least condescending compared to the other docs there. They have a nurse line there and I'm sure you could explain that you are looking for a ped. who will work with you and be flexible about staggering his vac. They should be able to tell you over the phone what their policy is on that. The number is ###-###-####. Best of luck to you. I know the autism scare is very real and daunting. We just don't know what's going on and it's a terrifying condition.

One of the moms boards I belong to was just talking about this. I did not realize I had a choice so I just did what the doc. said. My daughter will be 3 in May. These moms recomended Pampa http://www.pampapediatrics.com/ They said these docs were realy nice and worked with the moms. If I am blessed enought to have another child I will go there.

We use Dr. Kute. Check out her web site at www.drkute.com
She is pretty much on the holistic side and is very flexible when it comes to my choices that I make for my children.
