Vacation Ideas - Keller,TX

My husband and I have been married for 7 years and been together for almost 14. We have never had a nice vacation. The only traveling we've done is short weekend trips in Texas or Oklahoma. We've never had a honeymoon and I would love to get away with my husband kid free. I don't want to do a vacation that my kids (4 and under) would enjoy or I will feel guilty for doing it. I don't want to be too far away from the kids so something in the continental US would be best. Any ideas for an adult vacation that doesn't involve resorts or beaches with nudity? It doesn't have to be a beach. The mountains would be great too.

What can I do next?

How about Lake Tahoe. My husband and I have never been there, but we just saw something about it and now we are talking about trying to go there next year without the kids. It looks fantastic.

Not sure what type of vacation you're interested in so here are some that come to mind and they all offer very different types of entertainment as far as shows, beaches, nature/scenery. Wherever you go, I hope you have a wonderful, relaxing trip. Can't wait til I get an adults-only vacation with my hubby too. :)

You don't mention if you have a specific budget and if you are willing to fly or only travel by car...
Have you been to New Orleans? You could stay in a nice B&B and there are lots of things to do/see there...and you could easily drive.
There are some great deals to Mexico out there right now. I just signed up for email alerts from TravelZoo.com and they send out the top 20 great deals for travel. Go to their home page and click on Top 20. I've been wishing for a trip like that for my husband and myself. If you find a great deal, check out the place on Tripadvisor. Hope you find something terrific!

I have two options that you should look into as both of these trips were purely breathtaking and wonderfully relaxing. Lake Tahoe, California and Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Simply wonderful and gorgeous beyond what you could imagine. Close for you to drive there too. Check it out!

My husband & I took a delayed honeymoon, too. We went to Vermont, New Hampshire & Maine during the first 10 days of October. It was wonderful! It was beautiful scenery, cool weather and quaint B&Bs. In Vermont, we did a driving tour (just to see the leaves), went to Ben & Jerry's ice cream factory for a tour & free samples, took our clubs & did some golfing, and went to the Van Trapp family estate. In New Hampshire, we went on a mountain train ride to see foliage, hiked Franchonia Notch (loved this!) and went to a shaker village for a very interested tour and look into a different way of life. In Maine, we toured a local brewery, went to Sugar Loaf Mountain for a hike & went to an apple farm and a place where they make maple syrup. The people were very friendly in Vermont & New Hampshire, but more standoffish in Maine. Overall, it was a great trip to an entirely different part of the country! I hope that helps!

I know the gulf is having issues but there is a nice boat trip that skirts the gulf. Goes to LA, Missippi and Florida. Also there are some Missippi steam boat rides up the Missippi. If that is not you North Carolina has some nice cabins up in the Nantahala valley were you can either sit by the water or get active and hike or do white water rafting. My favorite vacation of all time was Oregon. Such variety. Did a driving vacation. Visited the thegorge then mountains where we actually saw snow in June (timberline Lodge its called) then went western Oregon that had a desert then Mt. Bachelor cabins. Then the ocean. It was great

for an adults only vaca... maybe a wine tour? NY might be too far from you, but there is the "Finger Lakes" region with several wineries... I've heard it's beautiful and lots of fun! I'm sure California has something similiar as well.

Or go to the carribean!!! or a cruise!

I honoestly don't know of resorts in the US that involve nudity. Of course I am sure you could find one. When you mentioned that I though of Jamaica where there is a place.

We love South Beach in Miami. Although it is a place for open-minded people, you do what you want to do and there is a nude beach north of South Beach, not right on Ocean Drive where the fun happens. There is an option for topless on the South Beach but most women don't due to the gawkers and gawkers trying to take pictures. There is lots og great food and things to do in South Beach and it is safe as well. I've even been on my own vacation there to chill out.

Destin FL is a family oriented place but we stay at the Hilton Gof Resort and Spa and we love it. We go yearly, take our 15 yr old with a friend. Very safe for the teens to do their thing and we do ours.

Napa Valley is a great trip as well.

Our most favorite of all is Maui in Hawaii. Not sure how you feel about a plane trip that far from kiddos. WONDERFUL vacation though!

I can't answer for the mountains. I've heard wonderful things but we've never gone that route.

Whatever you do, have fun!! Southwest Air has some great deals right now. I am booking flights on there almost daily for our business trips.
