I totally and with complete faith recommend Dr. Norman Neeb. He is an osteopath. His office is off of Big Bend in Kirkwood. He helped me and my husband a whole lot!
Hello ladies, I appreciate your inputs experiences /or suggestions about a situation I have, and also a name of a great physician. For several weeks now. I am having an upper back pain that wakes me up every single morning, I feel pain and stiffness, It feels like there is something pressing back there, and does not allow me to move freely . During the day it gets a little better, but the stiffness is still there. I tried for some time hot baths, sleeping in the floor!,changing of bed and mattress, hot and cold creams..etc. Nothing has worked. I went to the doctor today, and she suggested an X-Ray (of course) and then she prescribed an antidepressant (!!!) and a muscle relaxer (fine). I actually did not feel OK with the antidepressant because I am not depressed and I have never been a depressed person, so I don't understand why she would prescribe depressant so fast! Anyway, she said it is just to help me to sleep better (but the drug is actually for sleepiness and adhd and bipolar disorders which I do not have, nor any previous history about these problems...) I was thinking on alternative medicine, but after having the X-rays done so to be sure there is nothing else, My questions for you dear moms is would you use the services of a Chiropractor? Acupuncture??? Any other kind of natural therapy? Have you ever had this kind of experience?
On another hand, I would like to find a new physician, family doctor or internal medicine; if you have met a great doctor, I'd appreciate you let me know his/her name.(Wildwood,Ballwin, or Chesterfield areas)
Thanks a lot!!
Alejandra

I love my chiropractor! I was pregnant last year and had the sciatic nerve just pinching my leg. Oh it was horrible. My ob suggested I try some painkillers (advil of course). It didn't help so I contacted my chiropractor. Oh he was a godsend! Don't know any chiropractors in the areas you mentioned. I see Dr Holland in St Charles.
I am sorry to hear about your upper back pain. It sounds like something in your spine might be slipping out of alignment while you are sleeping. It loosens up throughout the day because you are moving around and your muscles are active to help support your spine. I think that seeking some type of conservative care is very appropriate in your case. I am a physical therapist and would be happy to take a look at you as I work with women with back pain all the time. A chiropractor is also another option that you may find beneficial. Please let me know if you would like further information.
Hello, sorry to hear you are having these problems. I have had problems with my back for many years. I am not sure where you live but I have a great Chiropactor in St Charles off south 94. Dr Di Carlo. he is the the sent me for a MRI in my neck when he realized he could not help and needed neck sugrey. so I feel he is very good and helped both of my daughter with different things. I hope you will get some help. best wishes to you
Dear Alejandra,
I want to applaud you for questioning the perscriptions written/given by the doctor. I am a Health and Wellness Coach and encourage all my clients to think and question all advice and medications prescribed by their doctor. Ask about side effects, do your own research - but DON"T ever forget you know your body best and you don't have to take that perscription just because the doctor wrote it. Get all the facts before you decide what to do...but, don't do it just because the doctor said so. Do it because you believe it to be the very best option for you. Afterall, you live in your body - NOT the doctor and he doesn't have to deal with the drug's side effects - YOU Do!!
I have several trstimonies from people who have suffered from various back problems and back pain. Some have used Chiropractors as I have D. on a regular basis, usually about once a month to keep everything in alignment. If I am having problems I will go more often. I have also used acupuncture and believe in it's benefits in minizing pain.
I have not been in to see a doctor for several years and that was for a broken ankle.
The testimonies I have...the people have made lifestyle changes; diet, exercise, supplementation of certain nutrients. You may be surprised how many aches and pains can be annihilated just by supplementing with the essential nutrients - those that are scientifically proven, natural supplement and necessary to maintain good health.
If you are intertested in reading any of the testimonies and what has worked for other people, without surgery, just reply and I will be glad to forward those on to you.

A little about me - It was my total disability in 1994 that spurred me on to learn about health and nutrition. I now have my life back and am drug free!
Hi Alejandra-
I injured my lower back about 15 years ago (trying to pick up one of the big 5 gallon water bottles!) and so every so often, it flares up. Last winter I threw it out picking up my son and I was desperate. My husband has never believed in chiropractors (and neither had I for that matter), but he was out of town, and like I said, I was hugely desperate, so I finally went to one, and wow, it was amazing!! He took x-rays and would have D. MRI if they indicated it before he worked on me, but it was like night and day. I would definitely try it if you've never gone! My dad just started going too (he's 76) for the first time and is a regular now! In terms of doctors, I'm not sure where you're located, but my last doctor was Gavin Helton in Des Peres, I liked him and his office a lot. We live out in Winghaven now and I moved to a closer doctor's office, they are OK but I don't have a lot of experience with them yet to know if they are "great" or not. Best of luck, get to a chiropractor as soon as you can!
I think Marc Merbaum on Olive street Mercy medical center is the greatest.
I suffered with sudden pains in my back and then I would have trouble breathing. After four months during one attack I went to a chiropractor for the first time. I couldn't even drive there I was having so much trouble breathing. It made all the difference. Since then I have went once or so every couple years. I take a muscle relaxer if I feel it's starting to spasm.
Some of them require more x-rays. I wouldn't go to one of them if your already getting x-rays. Just talk to people in your area and go to someone that you know someone goes to.
Don't blow off her decision to use an anti-depressent to treat you. Several antidepressants (like amitryptilline and other tricyclics) are actually used to treat pain that originates in nerves (neuropathic pain). Cymbalta is also an antidepressant that is used to treat pain.
