Universal Studios Paying the Extra So You Don't Wait as Long

Hi all!

We are going to Universal for the first time in a couple of days. I was noticing on the combo tickets that you could purchase what I would equate to Disney's Fast Pass option for going to the head of the line. Has anyone purchased those and did you think it was worth the extra money for doing it. We will be there over the weekend so I know it will be more crowded. I am planning to purchase a 3 day combo at this point unless someone has a better idea

If anyone has any other hints for first timers, I would appreciate it.

Thanks so much!
L.

My daughter and I went last summer and skipped the front of the line pass. So glad I saved my money! We went first thing in the morning and headed to the biggest attractions first. Lines were no problem and this was during the busy season! Keep in mind we went to the one in CA, no FL. Transformers and Simpsons were the biggest attractions other than the lot tour. Have a great time!

I wouldn't bother unless you were coming in the summer months when it is busier. And even then sometimes the wait can be just as long with the express pass.

If you have the extra money I say go for it. I've bought the passes and they are totally worth it. With the express pass, the wait is 20 minutes MAX. with the express pass we bought it was only good for 1 time through each ride. If the wait was less than 30 minutes we saved our pass for later in the day so we could skip ahead (which there was only ONE ride that was less than 30 minutes) , we did every ride in like 6 hours, (and stopping to eat, etc) we would not have been able to do that if we didn't get the express pass.

When I went we paid the extra. It was nice to be able to go to the front, but it does not work for everything so there is still some waiting, and to my understanding it is only good for each ride once, but I could be wrong about that.

I would skip it-We've been to both Universal Studios (CA and FL)-one time in June and one time in January. The lines were very reasonable. I guess if you have the extra money, it would be fine but I would always prefer to spend the money elsewhere.

Depending on how old your kids are-always consider doing the single rider option. That will always shorten the wait.

It has been a few years but we stayed at the Hard Rock hotel so we got to skip to the front of the line. It was so worth it! We went in May.

Do you have the option to upgrade your ticket once you get there if lines are long?

We just got back from Disney/Universal last week and it is definitely worth it. Buy them in advance, online, as it's significantly cheaper than buying them at the gate, as we unfortunately learned. There's a single-use option, good once on each available ride, and an unlimited option. We did single-use, as our kids were too small for most of the rides, so it just let us grown-ups run through the ride faster. If your kids are bigger and want to ride the big rides more than once, it would pay to do the unlimited.
