I have never had an ulcer, and I think I am experiencing one right now.

I am turning to you ladies because I can not rush out and go to my doctor. I have no $$ to do this.

So, what does one feel like?

I have a dull pain that is pretty constant. When I try and eat something, lord almighty look out cause 20 minutes after I am dying.

I am really worried because in the last two months I have been taking aleeve, and when I did some looking I found that can actually make things worse. So now I am freaking out that maybe I have waited to long.

Should I bite the bullet I fear is coming and just go to ER?

Or what are my other options??

The pain is located where I remembering having pain, before I had my gallbladder out.

Kinda freaking out right now.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Going to ER.

Just got back from ER.

It is an Ulcer. They have given me a Prescription for pain meds(which I have filled but will only be taking if i am about to die)and I have to take Zantac with a wet shot of Maylox.

Very very happy that it is not something worse. And that there is a good Possibility that this HAS been the pain I have been experiencing since mid September.

I am beat. Going to bed.

I wouldn't wait too much longer if you have been having this awhile. It would be best to take care of it now (and probably less expencive). I also know that you can make payments to hospitals and the Drs. If you are under a lot of stress it will make it feel worse.

I waited way too long for my multiple gastric ulcers. I had previous lumbar spine surgery and it felt so close to this but I vomited for months. It hurt so bad but I thought it was my spine. It finally got to the point where I went to my GP and I had such a low hemoglobin level I was sent directly to the hospital for two blood transfusions and to be scoped (very cool photos after!). Good luck!

I had burning..such burning! I ended up in the ER puking (I will never eat Chicken Wild Rice soup again...too bad as I loved it...Hubby won't either. I Excorcist hurled it across the ER little room...bad stuff).

But was tested for H.Pylori bacteria and told that the major percentage of Ulcers are casued by this? I took heavy duty antibiotics for aobut a month and all is well. I get occasional mini flares I call them...more like indegestions and heartburn..with burning there in the belly. But I avoid alot of foods now and its OK.

Good Luck.

I would definitely get it checked out because even though you had your gall bladder out, you can still get stones that go to the common bile duct. I know this from experience. I had my gallbladder out 10 years ago, and I have had to have procedures to get rid of stones in my bile duct at least 8 or 9 times. Please don't ignore the pain you are feeling.

Can you try urgent care instead of the ER? They are much cheaper.

Libby, there's a free clinic in my city, open on Wednesdays. I'll get you the information if you'd like. I know Seattle has similar programs (might be closer). Another idea would be an urgent care clinic. Again, we have one that will not refuse service and is less expensive than ER.

Big hugs.

Are your stools black? If you have an ulcer then that might be a sign. do you have fever? How long has the pain been going on? I'm just wondering whether you have a stomach bug or something more serious. I am no doctor and that's probably the best place to get advice.

Maybe call the office of the person who took out your gallbladder and tell them you cannot afford to come in and just wanted to be sure this could not be related to your gallbladder just to see if they will give you some info.

I saw your edit just now. GOOD LUCK!
