My boss asked me if I'd like to go there and run 3 apartment complexes. I'm not familiar with the area and havent found much about it on the web. Small town in Mendocino County where they grow a lot of weed is about what I get from the web. Anyone know that town on a personal basis that can give me a heads up?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

For those of you that know the area, my job would be probably in the "ghetto" part of the town since that's generally where "low income subsidized apartments" are. If you are familiar with Mulberry street and the surrounding area let me know. I was looking on Google Earth, the apartment complexes look really nice because we have to keep them looking nice, but the surrounding area looked kinda crummiesh. Where I'm at right now is really pretty, but we are near the bad part of town... and unfortunately there is meth. I'd love to get away from that part for sure! Pot doesnt bug me, Meth is horrifying tho!

We stayed in Ukiah when we were driving up the coast. We knew right away it was a hippie town and loved it. Everyone was so friendly. My daughter who at the time was 14 (now 21) still wants to go back and live there. She loved the laid back, hippie environment. I am sure we will be back some day. I know this was a few years back but at the time we never felt it danger. We felt very comfortable there.

I used to routinely visit a friend there during summers.
It's pretty, can be peaceful. I know this isn't PC but lots of hippies running around, lots of pot. When I visited there the ghetto wasn't bad, but then again my hometown is pretty ghetto, so my opinion of ghetto may be way different then others.
I was born and raised in Stockton, Ca....voted #10 on most dangerous cities this year and always makes every "bad" city list Forbes puts out. So again my opinion may of ghetto may be skewed. Being from Stockton, Ukiah was nice, but it's probably changed from when I used to visit ten years ago. I would say take a drive up there and see how you like it.
The other thing I remember is having to drive a ways to the major department stores, but that might have changed too.
Good Luck!

There is a little extra rain but summers are very nice. Yes, lots of hippies but I live in the next big town north and never hear of violent crime there.
It is also very beautiful. Good shopping with malls etc would be an hour south in Santa Rosa but you will have a Wal Mart and Big Lots there.
I think its a great idea.

I've gone shopping there. It is small, but it also has quite a bit of stores. I live south of there & my in-laws use to live north of it (in a VERY small town ~blink & you'll miss it). Ukiah is where more people went shopping. It has a few hotels. There is a Walmart, CVS, & Big Lots. There is my taste of shopping:-) Anyway, there is many stores & one big mall. I believe only 2 small car dealerships. About an hour south, there is several malls in Santa Rosa & hospitals. I hope that paints a little of the picture. It is also off the 101.

I lived in Humboldt for 6 years and I've been through Ukiah a million times. It's beautiful there. But if you're a city person, this probably isn't the place for you. There's not much there as far as entertainment (at least compared to a big city). If you like the outdoors, then it's perfect. Lots of camping and hiking nearby. As far as the pot...yeah pot is pretty popular there, but it's worse in Humboldt...and really, it's everywhere anyway. People are super nice there and because it's a smaller area, people seem to know each other well. Good luck!
