I was told the same thing with my daughter. I had three sonograms to make sure there was just one baby. She was just a big baby.
I am pregnant with my fourth child. My son is six months old. I recently went to the doctor and I am ten weeks however she said my uterus feels more like fourteen weeks. What could this mean? Has anyone ever had this experience? I go for a sonogram on monday but my mind is filled with all the possibilities including twins. Please give me some feedback.
I had a sonogram today and it is only one. Dont know why i am measuring big i go back to the MD on the first. thanks

First just wanted to say congratulations on the pregnancy. I have a friend who is pregnant with twins and went through the same scenario. Regular appt. early on in the pregnancy and her uterus was measuring larger then it should be had the ultrasound and it was indeed twins. They are due next month. Wishing you all the best.
Hi! I have a friend going through the same thing right now!! They said she feels like she's a good 6 weeks sooner then she should be... Problem being that she was trying to get pregnant and was tracking everything. BB temp, CM, cycle and everything!! She could pretty much assure the DR that she was not more pregnant then she is. She just had her ultrasound last Monday and yep there's only 1 in there. They told her that it's rare, but sometimes your uterus will just be bigger.
What were the sizes of your previous babies?? they did tell her that if she had big babies before then her body is just making room for later!!
Then again you're just gonna have to wait to see if there is actually 1 or 2 in there!!
J., I had the same experience when I went to the doc when I was pregnant. My uterus was measuring a month ahead of what it should have. Needless to say in my case a week later I found out that I was going to be having twins! I am now a mother of three. I have my 5 year-old twin daughters and I have a son that is almost 3. If you are pretty positive about the time you conceived I would think that twins could be very possible. If you are pregnant with twins, it is a true blessing. I started out with two so I didn't know what it was like to only have one baby to take care of, but I didn't think it was too bad. The situation with your 3 children being right now, and your oldest two being close together I think is harder than twins. When your two girls were babies, they were still very much in need of your attention, but were also doing very different things in comparison to each other. I think it is easier with twins, because at least they are doing the same things at the same time usually. I was 19 almost 20 when I had my daughters. The biggest problem I would worry about if you are is the pregnancy. I had my daughters 6 weeks early. They were small, but were only in the hospital for two weeks. The pregnancy was a lot scarier than after they were born. Good luck either way, twins or not. If you have any twins or twin pregnancy questions, I can probably answer a lot of them for you. I am measuring big with this pregnancy (my second) and my Dr sent me for another u/s the Fri before Christmas. Turns out that he's just a big boy and I have extra fluid as well. My Dr said that as long as I'm continually measuring big it's no big deal (unless there is a huge jump in a short period of time). She told me that he's just going to be a big boy. At least this time people can actually tell that I'm pregnant (my daughter was only 7 lbs and people were shocked to find out that I was pregant because I hardly showed!
I"m prego with my fourth too. I'm 36,, my kids are 16,11, and 4,, due in Aug. with this one.
I had a sonogram at 8 wks because I was measuring 9-11 weeks. My uterus is just tilted forward, where some are tilted back.
I'm only having ONE!! lol, hope that helps.
A common problem that some people have is that thier bodies take longer to heal. I am guessing that your uterus is still not FULLY healed from your prevous pregnancy and that is why it seems inlarged. This is most common in younger moms who have more than one child. Ask your doctor if this could be the case. This could especially be true if you were breasts feeding. Good Luck
Are you a plus size mama? They have a harder time getting the measurements right when there's more in the way. ;)
I belive it it too early to know a difference between twins and a singleton. They are too small, still microscopic. You won't be different until they are large enough to run out of room and then you will appear larger. More likely, you are further along. Congrats!
Hi, they told me this with my second pregnancy and I was imagining twins as well. Turned out I wasn't but I just grew more that week. Since then I've had it happen the same way. I went on to have three more children after that.
