Hi all-I am currently 30 weeks pregnant with my second set of twins. Including this set, my other children and my stepson we will soon have 8 children and the oldest will be 10! The twin pregnancies are unusual. There are no tiwns in either family and absolutely no fertility drugs or procedures used. Just wondering if anyone else has had this and suggestions on how to deal this summer with everyone home from school and 2 new babies!
Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

No real advice, but good luck!! Sounds like an incredibly challenging situation. Hire help if you can. Call on family and friends.

WOW......First off Congrats what a huge blessing to be able to be a mommie to 2 sets of twins! God must think you are a awesome mommie!!! :) I have 5 kids and they are all under 10 and I am expecting # 6!So I understand your question however; don't forget God doesn't make mistakes nor does he not give you things you can handle! Key is structure, disapline, organization and have a roution. You can also have planned out weekly or monthly meals and daily chores and ect. It's a learning process but as soon as you find a roution that works for you and your family stick with it and it will amke your life easier. It's such a blessing to have a large family, I know personally I never expected to have a large family my self but as I look now its such a blessing and even more blessings to come!! Good Luck and I know it's all going to work out. you will be suprised how God works and how wounderful the out come will be!

Strength in numbers! Yes, my mother is a twin and she had a set of twins ~ rare! As well, we had a friend who had two sets of twins.

We had 2 nieces, the twins (girls), and my daughter all within 2 years of each other. My mother made matching short sets and we had pictures taken. They all looked alike.

How do you get through it? A lot of visits to the park!

Whoo hoo! Celebration time!!!!!

I am a twin, and it is a lovely thing! God has really blessed your family.

One of my homeschool friends hosted a foreign exchange student from France when she had her fourth child. This girl helped her tremendously.

Congrats on the family,

Gail

Maybe you could hire a college student to help with the kids. Make out a schedule and transportation needs, so that this person can help you keep organized.. Purchase a really big calendar so that you can plot it all out and the entire family can see what is planned.

Make a list of emergency changes in case of weather, or illness changes to the schedule. Maybe "movie day " at home with a video and special snacks in a very darkened family room and everybody on sleeping bags on a rainy day..

Make a time for any lessons, camps, etc.. Also set a schedule for trips to the library maybe once a week for story time and checking out books. (Make sure there is one place in the house that the library books are to be kept so they can be returned the next week ) Include a picnic and then a nap time.. Another day could be a movie day where the student helper takes the kids to the movies.

Pool days could be MWF. Plan so that you go after nap for a few hours. Take a snack so the kids will not be asking for treats..
Playground time with a picnic. Keep a storage box with all of the swim supplies.. Hats, sunscreen, goggles, pool toys, beach towels.. whatever you need, all of this is to be kept in this box so that you can just pick it up and go each time or keep it in the car all summer.

I used to always keep an ice chest in the car all summer with water, juice, sodas and fruit like grapes, peaches and plums. Sometimes, I would even put the sunscreen in there on days it was over 100 degrees!I would keep the ice chest stocked with ice and fresh fruit. saved so much money..

You could start making up weekly schedules. Make up meal lists so that you will know what groceries will need to be purchased for each week. Maybe at the end of the day if you notice you are getting low on milk bread etc.. You could have the student helper bring it the next day when they arrive for work.
Do a load of laundry in the morning and another at night each day, or every other day to keep up with it. Make it everybodies duty to get their clothes out of the laundry baskets once they have been dried and return them to their rooms and put away.

I am sending you strength. You can do this.

I'm no help. My grandmother had 2 sets of twins 3 yrs apart. They are 66 and 63 now. My grandmother's grandmother had 3 sets. Weird, huh

I was freaked out that I would have twins but so far none of her grandchildren have had twins.

Congratulations

Take lessons from the Duggars (from the series 16, 17, 18, "19 Kids and Counting") Stay calm, cool, and collected; accentuate the positive (encourage, compliment, affirm); promote unity and teamwork, and pray, Pray, PRAY!! : )

(Are all these kids with you full-time, year-round??)

I have 2 month old twins... and they don't run in my family either!

All together I have a 3 yr old, a 2 yr old and the twins and my days are busy, but manageable and fun!

My advice, accept the help you are offered. I feel awkward taking help from people but one day I will return the favor... I just don't know when or how. I'm also lucky to have older kids who want and like to help. I keep them involved as much as possible and it makes things easier. At 2 &3 they do a lot of "getting" and "throwing away" but they love it. Right now, they have preschool 2 days a week but this summer I will still get them out. My kids hate to be stuck at home so wandering around Target or going to the park or bouncy place is a must!

Good luck and I hope things work out for you!!! :)

Congratulations! As for summer, can you hire a neighborhood teen or two to help you out? Or check with the local high school, they might have some type of mother's helper program. I would think some kids would be looking for something over the summer and would jump at the chance to work with kids - especially if that is the field they are interested in. I suppose you could also check with a local college - Early Childhood Education programs would be a good place to start.

One summer, I was a mother's helper two days a week for four hours a day. Granted, the pay wasn't great but I got to play with the kids and be outside for a good portion of the time. Much better than flippin burgers!

Good luck!
