2 and a half weeks ago my son had tubes put in because he'd had 8 double ear infections in 7 months. Last Saturday when I picked him up from my parents house I noticed that his right ear had this waxy build up over the opening, so I cleaned it. Since then every day he has had the same waxy build up, but 2 days ago, I noticed that there was now a whitish yellow liquid in his ear. My question is, is normal?
It is another infection. My daughter had one after her tubes were put in. After that bout she hasn't had any more infections.
Sounds like an ear infection. My oldest had one after tubes and the stuff leaked out. I had to go to ENT and get antibiotic drops.

Also, since he had so many infections, have you had him tested for environmental and food allergies? There is evidence that having reoccurring infections can be related to allergies.

That's an ear infection. Your ENT should have given you antibiotic drops to put in his ears when he gets infections. Start using them. If the ENT didn't give you drops, call the office, tell the he has an ear infection and you need drops.
Yeah, I'd say infection. My son had tubes put in at 5 mths because of infections and even on maintaince antibiotics. He still had ear infections and most were marked by ear drainage, though most of his were a kind of pinkish watery drainage. He NEVER ran a fever with an infection. He would just get cranky and not go to sleep well. But with the tubes, he didn't have the all out screams of pain. One time he had pus coming out of his ears. I had been to the doc with him on Wed and she didn't see infection. By Saturday, it was horrible. Call your doc.
By the way, I breast fed him for 19 mths and he never set foot in a daycare.

Call the ENT that did the surgery and ask but I think he's probably got another infection and it's draining out the ears instead of out the eyes, nose/sinus, if throat.
And that's why the tubes are there. They are working! The tubes drain any fluid before it can become an infection. Even if the fluid was green and thick, meaning an infection is brewing, it is still draining, rather than building up and creating what you went through before.
May I ask why you think he got so many ear infections? Daycare? Lots of moms recommend Chiropractic treatments for ear infections here. I personally cannot attest to them, but many here swear by that route.
