So I went to my OBGYN and had the the yearly pap like everyone should have and after waiting for two weeks for the card in the mail to say that it came back fine I recieved a phone call from my doctor saying that it came back abnormal, now this is about a month and a half before my wedding in which we were going to start trying for number 2 asap. I then had the biopsy done in which that showed that I now have to have a leap procedure done. So needless to say its a month after the date that we were going to start to try to get preg and I am nervous for next week for the procedure. Has anyone else had this done and had sucessfull pregnancies quickly after it was proformed???

What can I do next?

Hi, my name is L.. I'm 34 & have 2 girls ages 6 & 3. I had a leap done before i became pregnant with my 1st daughter. Though i don't recall how long it was after that i got pregnant. I'm sure your OGB can answer any ?? you have. They may or may not recommend a waiting period. I know you can have sex, douche, use tampons, etc. for a while after. Of course you'll probably have paps done every six months for a couple yrs to make sure everything stays normal.

Good luck.

Hi. I had this done probably about 8-10 years ago and just had my first baby this past August. I know you aren't suppose to have sex for a month ... your doctor might suggest waiting to get pregnant because you have to let yourself heal. Good luck!!!

Don't worry. Leep is a fairly noninvasive procedure, with minor difficulties. They just do it to get rid of the abnormal tissue and send it for biopsy. You're not supposed to have intercourse for four weeks after, but it shouldn't affect your ability to become pregnant. Good luck and congratulations on your upcomming wedding.

Hi A., I had the Leap procedure done after my first child. It was not bad at all. They numb the area and then do the procedure. I had mine done at MGH and they were wonderful. A nurse stood by my side the whole time and talked me through eveything the doctor was doing. I got pregnant about a year after it was done and had a beautiful little girl. Everything went fine. Good luck, I am sure everything will be ok.

I had to have the procedure done multiple times. I was not looking to get pregnant right away thou. You might want to talk to your doctor about it. When I had it done I had to wait a certain amount of time and then get another pap to see if it was all normal. When it came back abnormal again I had to do the leap all over again. They do say that getting pregnant helps it not return. That was about 8 years ago and I did get pregnant about 3 years after that drama. I have had normal smears since. Good luck!! And congratulations on the wedding!!

Before having any 'procedure' done, ALWAYS get a second opinion!!
AND a THIRD and maybe a FOURTH!! I have had problems and had a hysterectomy that may not have been as necessary as I was led to believe. If it is not life threatening be sure.
