Trying to Find Wrist Leash

I hope no one thinks this is so bad but we are going to be taking my 2 year old daughter to go see Elmo at the Target Center in a few weeks and are planning on taking the light rail down there and don't want to really deal with a stroller at all because she really just likes to walk. Anyways, does anyone know where you find that I'm not even sure what they're called but you put them on your wrists or attach them to a bag so that it's attached to her and to me so she doesn't take off at all while we're in Mpls. I checked Target last night but couldn't find it at all. Thanks.

What can I do next?

I found one at Wal*Mart. My son has a monkey backpack and the little tail is the "leash" he LOVES it! We put little tootsie rolls or life-savers in there and he'll stop every once and a while to have a little snack. He even shares with his brothers! He thinks he is so cool. Its SOO CUTE!

I found both of the ones I have for my daughter at Target. they are in the diaper bag aisle. they are shaped as animals, dog, bear, and monkey. Wal-mart also has them but they are not as fun for the kids.

L.,

You may want to try eBay. And no, you are not a bad mother for ensuring that your two year old is not lost or taken from you on the light rail.

I know babies r us sells a harness not a leash that fits around the child and there is a lead rope for the parents to hang on too they also make a cute backpack style one of a teddy bear my son used to have that buckles across his chest so they can't slip out he loved it and could bring snacks and small toys with and it was a teddy bear.

It's not bad to want to keep your child safe! I used to be freaked out by these...until I had a child who was not afraid to walk away from me anytime, anywhere. Now I see why parents use them!

Anyway, I think I bought my harness at BRU, but as someone else mentioned, now they have little animal backpacks. The kids wear the backpack and you hold the long tail. I believe you can even let the child wear it without the tail at first to get used to it, then just clip the tail on later. I've seen these at both Target and Walmart.

Have fun seeing Elmo! I took my oldest when she was that age and she LOVED it.

I think it's smart, not sad. I had one for my 8-year-old when he was 2. They also have harnesses. If I still had mine I would mail it to you! I would try Babies R Us. I might have gotten mine from a catalog like First Step or something, but you probably don't have time for that. They probably have them on line too. One warning--I used it when I felt I really needed to on a trip to CA and in an airport, but it really, really bothered him and he would pull on it and throw a tantrum so I didn't actually use it as much as I thought I would. Good luck.

I have the puppy backpack with a leash attached to it. My son loves it and even wears it in the house when he's pretending to be a puppy. I bought it at Target in the child/baby safety section. Since you had already tried Target I would check a different one. That Target might just have been out of it.
I don't think having a leash for your child is bad. It's better to have them attached to you than to lose them. I also have never had anyone say anything negative about the leash nor have they given me dirty looks. In fact, it's been quite the opposite. People come up to me all the time asking where I got the leash and older moms tell me they wish those had been around when their kids were younger.

I got one from Target that is a little bear backpack. I believe it is in the aisle with the baby travel accessories (Eddie Bauer stuff, etc.) We haven't used it much, but it is nice to have.

I dont think it is bad, I think it is being safe. I would check BabiesRus. I had one years ago, cant remember where I got it, but I think I have seen them at BabiesRus. Good luck and have fun at the show!

(Don't be surprised if she cant sit still for the whole show, that is a lot for a 2 yo to handle and a long time to sit there.)

I've seen them at target, walmart, and babies r us. If you can't find one in the store, you probably can find one online at any of the places I listed above.
Good luck!
