I know they sell a good Agave at Intelligent Nutrients on 35WN & Hennepin in Minneapolis. They also have a lot of other fun products and it's a GREAT place to go get a healthy lunch with a juice bar and good hot drinks too. (They even have a martini bar in the back with lots of organic wine, etc). Horst from Aveda opened it & they are coming out with a line of hair care products that are so pure - they could be eaten (or so I've heard)!
There is a website that lists all foods and their index. It is organized by lowest to highest. I don't remember the name but if you type glycemic index diet, it should come up.
Hi Gina:
A great book to pickup is Dr. Shari Lieberman's Glycemic Index Food Guide. It ranks food by low, medium and high Glycemic Index and gives the Glycemic Load for each.
You can get the book at www.marketamerica.com/graichen. Type Glycemic Index Food in the Market America search field to find it. The cost is $7.95. Dr. Lieberman also includes a nice intro and a Q&A section to better understand GI and GL.
I have completely switched over to watching glycemic index and it has made such a difference in how I feel - as well as shrinking my size!
E-mail me back if you have problems finding it!

Hi Gina! Have you ever tried Ezekial 4:9 products? They have bread, tortillas, buns, pasta and more and they are all low glycemic.
Also, sweet potatoes are a great low glycemic food. I mash, grill, roast, bake and saute them. I even make sweet potato hash browns and my hubby can't eat enough of them!
I have found that some diet books have great recipes that are low glycemic. I use some of the recipes from the Maker's Diet. They have alot of yummy recipes.
Have a great day!
Hi Gina
Go to this site to get a great book that will give you the Glycemic Index on most food items.

Have you heard of Sugar Busters? They have a great book that explains everything... several foods and where they fall on the glycemic index, how your body breaks it down, etc. If you aren't interested in the scientific part of it, they also have cookbooks, including one just for kids.
Hi Gina,
I had gestational diabetes with my last baby, he's 14 mos now. My OB recommended the South Beach Diet to help get my post partum blood sugar back to normal. This is a great book for someone watching foods with sugar. In the book it list all the fruits with their GI. It also explains how white breads & pasta's turn into sugar in our body. It explains how good whole grains are for us and how they work for a slower digestion process which gives a slower release of sugar instead of all at once. I lost 80 lbs on that diet, then at Christmas I discovered the Eat-Clean diet by Tosco Reno. It's a VERY healthy diet, but the main difference is she has NO processed foods and very little cheese, because of the saturated fats. On South Beach Cheese is allowed. Cheese doesn't have any carbs.
Oh, and by the way, on South Beach it is only during Phase I, the first two weeks, that fruits are not allowed. This is only to break the addiction to sugar in our bodies. I was breastfeeding and so I did a very restricted Phase II for my phase I. This is NOT the ATKINS diet!! Many people think that it is. South Beach is much healither!!
To date I've lost 93 lbs and feel fantastic! I work out regularly too. Any questions please write me.
Good Luck!
Gina- Just B. J here.

Gina...have you gotten the book "The Glycemic Index Diet" by Rick Gallop? That may give you some good ideas and options. It gives meal ideas and alternatives to "bad" foods. Good luck :)
HI Gina,
I have heard the sweetener Agava has a low glycimec index. I believe that oat flour is lower as well. We try and eat healthy too. We also take vitamins and have environmentally friendly personal care and cleaning products.
To your health!
