i'm surprised your allergist doesn't handle asthma. my kid's allergy specialist is also very good with asthma.
i echo the other poster's suggestion to look outside the box. chiropractic and homeopathic aren't universal panaceas, but you can spare your child a lot of drugs and misery if you can find natural remedies that are effective. and they are out there.

Dr. Paluvoi is an pediatric and adult doctor who is both an allergist and immunologist (board certified in both, I think). He has has offices in Gainesville and Lansdowne, possibly other locations, too. He is my daughter's doctor and not only is he great, but his office staff is extremely nice as well. My daughter suffered terribly with allergic symptoms and he was instrumental in getting the right tests to determine what her diagnosis was. Hers was a very complicated issue, so I won't go into all that. Suffice it to say that I'm a mom of 2 adult girls and 2 adult stepsons and grandmother to 8. In my own family experience, it's very common for the pediatricians and even internists to minimize the discomfort caused by these type symptoms. As a mother, it's very tough to watch your child suffer. Having said that, I agree with the other Moms in not over-medicating. But if you need to do it, then don't hesitate to get what you need for your daughter. Good luck to you and your little one. ~~G.~~

If you are sure you are ready for an asthma doctor we have one. I'm not sure where in Northern Virgina you are looking but we have gone to Dr. Kelty in Lansdowne and have been very happy with her. She's a pediatric pulmonologist and I think she may even have another office location closer in. Good luck!

does she have an inhaler? i have the same thing you are describing and the allergies seem to be making my asthma act up. the inhaler might help. ask for that to see if it helps.
