Trying to Be a Real Sucker

We are looking into buying the Nosefrida or Baby Vac to get really serious about sucking out our babies' noses. Has anyone used either or both of these? I'd love to know how well they worked for you and if anyone has tried both and can compare them, that would be even better!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for the responses. I ordered the nosefrida. I am really looking forward to getting rid of the nose rattles and other problems this snot creates. If she knew it was coming, my baby would be looking forward to it, too. I think it will actually help to avoid the irritation from over-sucking. That's the kind of thing that can happen when we try and try to get results with the bulb-sucker.

I used the nosefrida and loved it. So much better than the bulb syringe and easy to use. My son was not as irritated either.

I LOVE the Nosefrida - I could never get the bulb syringes to work, but the Nosefrida is super easy to use and works great. Since you're actually physically sucking out the stuff I think it would be really hard to suck too hard.

I haven't tried either, but our DR said that "over sucking" can irritate the noses even further. Good luck with your research though!

I have never tried either of those products, but I just wanted to commend you on being a mom to 10 kids!!! I only have 2, and they both try by patience every single day, but I love them to pieces!! =-D

I am a RN in a newborn nursery, the pediatricians always tell the parents to not use the bulb syringe or anything else too much because it can cause the fragile membranes inside the nose to become swollen and block the mucous even more. Saline drops in each nostril to soften the mucous and then gently sucking with the bulb syringe while plugging the other nostril should be enough and not more than twice a day. Cool mist vaporizors or putting baby in the bathroom in an infant seat while you shower so the steam can help clear the airways can help too, I would not waste my money on something that may cause more irritation.
