My 2 1/2 year old twin girls are in the early stages of potty training and WILL NOT KEEP THEIR DIAPERS ON!!!!! This has been an ongoing thing since they turned 2 and to cope with it at first we used electrical tape as "belts" over the diapers and this has worked up untill now. They only do this at night before bed. there is almost always urine on the floor and sheets or ca-ca on the floor, Which results in several lysol cleanings and sheet changes a night as well as frustrated parents cause the tape isnt working anymore and we dont know what to has anyone else had this problem and if so how can I make it stop!

(they are just starting to go on the potty maybe 1 time a day, so overnight without diapers would be no good)

What can I do next?

Hi. I'm about to try this, so I can't speak from experience. But, check out this lady's site. She has a method to potty train within 3 days and it includes nights. I actually learned about this from another mom on this site.

My only thought...to help you keep bedtime sane...would be to put one-piece pajamas on backwards. Use the one-piece, zip-up footie pjs and cut the feet off. Put it on your girls backwards. A friend of mine did this with her son when he was taking clothes and diapers off with great success. Although having two children...I only hope they aren't able to unzip eachother. (Pretty inventive if they think of that!) I guess if that could happen you could use a diaper safety pin to pin the zipper closed at the top back. They won't be able to get that off of eachother. Make it a fun game where everyone puts on their pjs backwards if they don't like it. Let me know if this works for you...good luck.

I have two year old twins too. Mine do the same thing, I had to put them back in onesies and overalls. That helps. We are staring potty training tomorrow. I found this e-book where the gal guarantees you they will be potty trained in 3 days. It's worth a shot. Check it out, www.pottytrainingbasics.com you have to purchase the e-book, it's $17.00, it's emailed to you. It's only 17 pages AND IT'S AWESOME. I am doing it this week. If your kid doesn't potty train in 3 days and you follow her program exactly then you get your money back.

Put the diapers on backwards - always does the trick. Not even my academically gifted 2 year old can figure out that one -- and trust me, she is motivated, as her favorite state of being is totally naked.
With my daughter now that we are potty training, I put a pair of little kid panties or training pants over her diaper so that she has to go through 2 layers of clothing to get the diaper off.

Hi J.,
My daughter did the same thing. The first time she did it was at naptime at daycare. She stripped, messy diaper and all, then proceeded to paint herself! So gross! I ended up putting her in footie jammies even for naps and pinning the zipper with a diaper pin. She was a little pissed at first, but quickly gave up. It took a few months for her to completely loose interest and now at 2 1/2 it isn't a problem. Good luck!

My twin girls are now 16 and out of my 5 daughters, only did my twins remove their diapers all the time!

We did the belt made of tape also...like you said, that only lasted so long.

I put their diapers on backwards...but one of my girls learned how to deal with that and quickly showed the other one.

I had to buy them pj's that zipped up the back. The summer was hard to make them wear them, but I cut the feet off a few pair, finding footie-less and zipper up the back pj's was not easy. They never undressed one another thankfully! If your two start to remove each other's pj's, see if you can find the 'old fashioned' cloth diaper pins, they are child safe, you can use those to 'lock' them into their pj's...just a thought.

Good Luck!
