I think 6 to 8 is pretty typical here. In prior years is has been 5:30 or so but with it being Friday night and before daylight savings I think 6 is the earliest.
Hi friends! I received such great responces in the past, I thought I would see what your thoughts on this were. I live in Denton and am new to the area. Back 'home' (new Jersey) young children (mine are 2.5 and 5 years old) would start trick or treating around 4:30-5pm depending what times parents got home from work or dinner schedules. And the community curfew was 9pm and we would turn out house lights off to show we are no longer opening our doors. I think because it was more light out and less scary for kids? Also, their bedtimes being well before 9pm would mean for a earlier night. What is an acceptable time to start- so I don't catch people off guard?
Thanks! I will plan to leave around 6!

We really consider the ideal time to be between 6 and 8; however I am certainly not offended if the little ones come between 5 and 6. I try get our family dinner done around 5:30. I don't think we have ever had anyone as early as 4:30.
I would say start about 6:30. 6:00 usually still catches us eating dinner and we are completely unprepared. The older kids will be out longer, but turn off the porch light when you dont want anyone knocking anymore.
Have a great night@
I wouldn't start before 6. Since we don't set the clocks back until Saturday, it'll still be light until slmost 7:00 or so. I wouldn't be offended if anyone came earlier though. If my porch light is on, I'm ready! I think it was pretty much about 6-8 last year we had people come. This year, with it not being on a school night, 9:00 probably would be more realistic.
