Is it cradle cap? Is it ring worm (not a worm at all but a fungal infection)? Is it psoriasis? Is it an allergic reaction to shampoo? Is it heat rash? We are not qualified to give medical advice or even share experiences based on so little info. Go see a doctor and if you cannot, at least go see a pharmacist.

I also say see a doctor. I know for some things the fungal infections on the scalp are treated differently than if it is on a different part of the body. Ex: ringworm - on the scalp you have to take an internal medication (pill) where someplace else you can use the creams. A doctor needs to treat this.

Hi D.,

I want to encourage you to take the baby to the doctor for this. First, the doc needs to make the diagnosis. Second, the doc needs to tell you how to treat it. I would not want for you to take from this site of mothers agreement that you are right in what you are saying - that should come from a doctor who has SEEN and felt your child's scalp infection.

Good luck - I hope that what the doctor gives you for the baby will clear this up quickly.

A fungal infection will not go away without treatment, I think.

I think a doctor will take a specimen to verify and treat appropriately. I think sometimes it requires oral medicine if it doesn't go away.

I am sorry you are going through this. I know it is expensive and a lot of trouble to take a baby to another appointment. My three year old has bad eczema and looked like she had ringworm this summer (while our niece also had ringworm) - -but the anti-fungal cream made her break out even more.
