100% Aloe Vera Gel (clear) by Fruit of the Earth. I find the best price at WalMart.
There is also one (green)that the same company has for the sun.
It also has many other uses - I just love it.
My 6 1/2 months cheeks and nose got a little burnt.....what can/should I do?

To soothe try noxzema.
My 17 year old got 2nd degree burns on his shoulders this last week camping, it was real bad so I understand you feeling of wanting to make her feel better. He came home and I was glad that they had a first aid station that applied medication each day. You think he would know better by then but I guess they never grow up.
My suggestion is apply vinegar to take the sting out. Use a cotton ball and apply it. Yes it will smell a little funny but it works great. Then apply Aloe Gel or Aloe Juice. The juice is better because it is not as sticky and can be applied with a cotton ball or put it on a rag and just set it on the burn.
Another thing you can put on it if you do not have any Aloe is cucumber Juice. Blend up a cucumber (juicer the better) and apply with a cotton ball.
Don't forget the vinegar first because it really will take out the sting and cool it down at the same time.

I like Coco Butter lotion. They usually sell it in the aisle with all other lotions. It works best to put it on right after she gets sunburnt, but it does works at taking some of the pain away and you can put on as much as you need, since it's lotion and gets absorbed by the skin (but doesn't leave a film like some of the stuff that says it's for sunburns).
Solarcane, noxema, aloe, yogurt, vinegar, or lotion with peppermint oil in it.
Those are all the sunburn remedies I know. Good luck.
Apply a wash cloth soaked in apple cider vinegar to draw the heat out and help take away the sting.
Ahhhhhh, I feel your daughters pain! I am ALWAYS getting sunburned even with 50+ SPF sunscreen! I have actually ended up in the hospital ER and Drs offices several times because of the blisters and blackened skin! 2nd and 3rd degree sunburn!
Anyhow, when it is a minor sunburn I use Aloe with no added chemicals. I get the cheap stuff from Walgreens, it is clear and does not burn but helps to heal your skin! The other thing I use is Vanicream moisturizing lotion.... you get the Vanicream from the pharmacist and it is about $4. for a good size tube. There is no chemicals or dyes in it, no fragrances etc! Very light weight and non greasy! I also apply cold compresses occasionally but ALWAYS follow up with lotion since it tightens the skin but feels great while on it!
Please make sure you do not purchase any ointments. The ointments will trap the heat in and make it more uncomfortable and can cause more problems.
Another thing that the Dr just suggested to my son last week... he blisters also.... was to take cool oatmeal baths if it got to be very uncomfortable. So you can probably soak a washcloth with this and put it on her cheeks.
Lastly, if she seems to still be uncomfortable, a dose of Motrin or Tylenol!!!
Good luck to you and many blessings!
I like to use Aloe gel. This helps remove the heat. It is not very expensive, and found at drug stores. Good luck!
I would try Aquaphor (made by Neutragena). It doesn't have harsh chemicals and can be used for anything excema, cuts, etc. We use it for everything. It's like Vaseline.
First, the obvious - keep her out of the sun for a few days and always be sure she has a sunscreen with a high spf when you're going to be outdoors for awhile. I love the banana boat no tears spf 50. Nothing gets through that barrier as long as you reapply every few hours and after swimming.
Secondly to treat her sunburn, be sure to tell her pediatrician, so they can give you specific warning signs to look for in case she also has sun poisoning. The ones I know about offhand are fever, fussiness, and vomiting. Make sure she's staying hydrated. Then you should apply a cool cloth to her burned skin and also obtain permission from your pediatrician to use a good, pure aloe, taking care not to get it into her eyes.
Sound silly I know but the good old standbys are tea bags soaked in cool water and applied to the durned area and milk applied to the burned area. I promise it works and it is safe for even the smallest child.
I love using calendula for sun burn and a ton of other skin ailments. Pick it up at whole foods or at a Health food store like "For the Good of It" by Joliet Park District. It is truly a catch all and takes away all redness within 24 hours. (While you are there you can pick up Arnica too. Between Calendula and Arnica I don't need any other remedies for my kiddos or myself...it covers just about everything and both honestly work wonders.)
I keep an aloe plant in my kitchen for just this purpose. Break off a leaf and squeeze out the gel. I use my hands and apply it to all burns.
Dose her with tylenol according to weight. Wet a few tea bags squeeze excess liquid out and hold on her little nose or cheeks. Put a few in the fridge(not freezer) for later. It helps draw heat out and the tanic acids in tea help it feel better. Make sure she is well hydrated. If there are blisters of any sort, she is running a fever, is in such pain she is unable to nap. CALL her doctor. Next time you want to spend time in the sun. A baby friendly sunscreen, brimmed hat, and lightweight, white, long sleeved shirt. Yes I know it sounds hot, make sure you give fluids frequently and don't stay out too long. I know it's hard if you have other kids or just want to enjoy the weather yourself, but she still may not have developed the ability to properly control her body temperature and can't tell you about it either. So she may be overheating, burning, thirsty, dehydrating and you won't know.
Hope she is okay.
