Hi , mommas...I'm going to fly tomorrow and I have a 8 days old baby,
I'm kind of scare about it ....it is safe? Has any one did this before? I mean the pressure from the cabin doesn't affect a newborn?
Thank you in advance...

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you again to all!!
I just talk to her ped. And as I have a court appearance she will give me an affidavit so I don't have to show ,
Im old fashion with newborns I prefer to keep myself and my kids the first 6 weeks at home. But this wasn't a pleasure trip ....that why I was so scared, and yes the airlines doesn't aloud less than 2 weeks old babies.

8 days old is too young. Planes have the highest concentration of germs-even adults often get sick traveling. The baby is too young and not vaccinated. I think most airlines won't allow it until 2 weeks, but even that would not be smart.

What I found flying with my 6 week old was we had to provide a birth certificate veryfing she was over 2 weeks old and if she wasnt we needed a doctors note saying she was ok to fly... check with your airline they can refuse to let you fly.

A friend of mine had to travel with her two-week old son b/c of a transfer and a house closing. They were both fine, but the doctor wasn't overly thrilled about the whole thing. They were also both completely exhausted and it was a tough flight following child birth- and she had her mother with her to help.

If you don't have to fly, please don't. There are tons of germs in an airport and in the plane and you have no idea what your child's sleeping and eating patterns are yet.

it's not the pressure that is the problem, it's the currculating germs in the cabin you have to worry about. I've always been told by my doctors to not take a baby to public places till they are at least 3 months old.

I really isn't a good idea to take your 8 day old child on a plane.

That's pretty young for travel! You should contact both your OB-GYN and your new baby's pediatrician to get their input and advice. I don't think the cabin pressure would be an issue, but you're not even 2 weeks post-partum.

I never traveled with a newborn, but I did with a 4 month old. Nurse for cabin pressure changes. I just wouldn't let anyone touch her - you don't need lots of strangers handling your newborn (I don't think it'll be a problem though). Wash your hands when you can. If you have a baby carrier, wear the baby - that may be the most comfortable and convenient for the both of you. Take care :)

I was moving and had to fly with my just shy of 3 weeks old son, he is and always has been just fine! Call your doc, make sure they say its okay. I kept mine in a sling most of the time we were on the plane and during the swap between flights for a good germ barrier, and to keep curious people away.

I actually don't believe they will let you on a plane with a baby that little. Doctors usually say that they need to be closer to 6 weeks old before they should be traveling by plane. I would call your doctor.
