That is awesome! I have not taken my DD on international travel but never-the-less I have a few tips:
- take the immunization record and ask your DR what kind of medicine (if any) is ok for various illnesses while over there. IE is infant tylenol ok in the event of a fever and what is the dosage?
- for the plane rides I have taken domestically, I bought a stroller bag to gate check my stroller in and a car seat bag that rolls to put my car seat in to make lugging the car seat easier. Both were from Amazon.com
- I would check the weather and make sure that I had the right clothing for the trip for the kiddo (i.e. any need for a knit cap at night?)
- I have seen portable/foldable sleep mats for infants that you can pack in your suitcase, thus eliminating the need for arranging for pack and plays or cribs
- i have seen inflatable bathtubs too in case you don't want to arrange for a baby bathtub n your hotel room
- if you are formula feeding, i definitely would pack my own from here so as not to upset the baby's tummy with something new
- Although I didn't use a sling when my DD was that small, I think I would try and find one that works for the trip to help avoid needing the stroller over there

Good luck and have fun!!

To keep baby safe on the plane, he/she should ride in a carseat (rear-facing). Turbulence can be tragic for unrestrained children, and the story about the 3-year-old who survived a plane crash (no one else did) and was found dangling upside down in her carseat---that's reason enough.

Here is a link specifically addressing kids under 2 on planes.

Stay safe, and have fun!

Make sure for the flight he/she has something to suck on for take off & landing to help equal out the change in cabin pressure. Be it a bottle, a pacifier or a toy... I would make sure to take basic baby meds should you need them (infant tylenol, orajel etc). Without knowing how accessable these things are there, you'll want your own supply. Other than that, he/she's really not going to know or care where they are. Do everything for him/her like you normally do at home and as long as he/she can smell you and have you on a regular basis (your regular), then your baby should be fine. :) Have a GREAT trip!

That's the best time to travel with a child! They are so easy at that age. 24 hours before your flight, call the airlines and ask for bulkhead seats and a bassinet to be reserved for you. That was a lifesaver for me when I was traveling alone with my son at that age. France is pretty modern, so you should be able to find basic supplies if needed. I went to India, so I brought everything! And I didn't even use a third of it. Best traveling item was a baby carrier. Used it every day of my trip and was great in the airport and plane.
