Give him a little plastic tumbler cup or shotglass. No top. It is much better for oral motor development and visual development (eyes converge). Kids do not need sippy cups. They are perfectly able from about 10 months to direct their own cup to their mouth and drink it. They learn how much liquid to take in and how far back to tip their heads and balance. There will be some coughing at first but well worth it once he gets it. A regular cup is more like big people and babies love that! It should intrigue him.
