My cousin has some audio tapes that has her grandpa (my uncle) reminiscing on that she is wanting to transfer to cd so everyone can have them. I am helping her find someplace to do that. She lives in a little town out of state. She will send them to me if I can find a place to do them. Where do I start in looking for a place to do this ? What kind of places do this ? If anyone has any information I would so appreciate it ! If you know of a place around the Dallas Ft. Worth area that would even be more awesome but I will take what information I can get ! LOL !

What can I do next?

Bed Bath and Beyond sells this great retro looking stereo. It has a turn table and cassette player as well as a CD burner built right in. It also has an AM/FM radio. The one we have wasn't all that expensive. She could make CDs of the cassettes herself that way.
I don't know of any professional place that does it. You could perhaps look in your area for places that transfer film and videos.

I do mine the boom-box way. My computer guy taught me how to do it.

We did buy one of the expensive retro stereo gadgets years ago. They worked pretty well - but only for a little while. I say "they" because we had to replace it three times before we gave up on the thing. You might look them up on Amazon and check the user comments before you decide if you want to go that route.

Surely there is someplace in the DFW area that offers this service! Do you have any computer-geek friends? They might know. Or call a Radio Shack store. Can't hurt.

Is the audio tape on cassette or reel?

I googled this and found several sites both telling how to do it as well as where to get it done.

Go to Walmart and buy a boom box, about $40. Put the tape in the tape player, put a cd in the cd player/recorder and start the tape then start the cd recording. I've made lots of tapes off my cd's and although "I" haven't made CD's off the tapes others have done that quit easily.
