I lead hikes for the 3 day Breast Cancer walks. 1 good flat one is at the end of Grand in san Leandro. It's 5 miles to the San Mateo Bridge and 5 back to the parking lot. Or you can start at the San Leandro Marnia to make it a little longer. Another is around Lake Chabot in Castro Valley ,It's 12 miles around. It's alot of hills though. The Iron Horse trail in San Ramon is flat and you can go all the way to Alamo. Good luck and have fun! Don't forget to drink lots of water....K.

I train all the time and some places we run:

Redwood Park/Skyline Gate (Beautiful and super for hill training)
Berkeley Marina
San Leandro Marina
Alameda Creek ( Beard Staging area) - Fremont
Point Isabel/Marina Bay
Heather Farms in Concord

I could go on, but if you have a favorite area, let me know. I can give you directions too. All the locations have restrooms and some have lighting. But all are very popular trails/paths.

Good luck.

I was trying to find my running shoes (very hard to find) and found that Transport has a website that includes trails, maps and directions. Check this out:
http://www.transportsrunswim.com/run/ This is where a lot of our (Team in Training) runs are held.

The Moraga Lafayette trail is great. You can pick it up at the Moraga commons park or where Olympic meets Reliez. The Iron Horse Trail is also great and goes from concord to San Ramon. You can pick it up near Pleasant Hill Bart or at Civic Park in Walnut Creek. Hope this is helpful!
