i want to purchase a double seat trailer to pull my two young kids in but when searching online i noticed you can get one with two wheels or three. i just wondered if anyone here had experience with either?
is it better to get the 3-wheel or 2? i was reading comments and feedback, but they didnt give me much info. thanks in advance! have a great week everyone!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

No, we dont want to use it as a stroller just for biking only! seems to me like it would be easier to pull if it only had two wheels vs. three wheels. thanks guys!

one child is 40 lbs and the other is 32 lbs. i know they can hold up to 100 lbs limit. do you think this is too much? my husband who is 6'1 and weighs 230 would be pulling them. he is a pretty big and strong guy. thoughts?

How big are your kids? Nothing cracks me up more than when people buy a bike trailer and don't realize how hard biking becomes towing them.

What you may want to do is find a local bike shop that rents them and try them out. You may figure out you don't want either a two or a three wheel

I have a Schwinn. It has a third wheel for the front to use it as a jogging stroller, but when it is behind the bike the front wheel comes off. I liked having the third wheel because I could ride the bike to the zoo, take the trailer off the bike, put the front wheel on and push the trailer around inside the zoo when they were little. I still use the trailer to transport stuff now that the kids ride their own bikes. I can put folding chairs, picnic lunch, soccer balls etc. in it.

ETA: I am only 5'2" and 125lbs and I never had any trouble pulling the trailer with both kids in it. I still had them in it for long trips when they were age 5 and 2.

Ours has two wheels. It's perfect for biking. On the rare occasion we tried it as a double stroller, it dragged on the ground a bit. So if you anticipate using it as a stroller, I'd go with three wheels. (We found ours to be a bit too bulky to use easily as a stroller. Even if it didn't drag, I don't think we would use it for that purpose).

We have one that while it is attached to the bike it uses 2 wheels, then if we get to the park or a store and want to pushm them in the store, it has a wheel that attaches at the front to turn it into a double stroller. We like ours. We have used it both ways.

We got ours from freecycle and it has 2 wheels. I think the ones with three are also convertible to a jogging stroller type thing so if you anticipate needing such a double stroller, consider 3 wheels.

You remove the third wheel when you attach it to your bike. The third wheel is for use when you are using it as a stroller.

I know I am late but if you are going to be biking a lot get a Chariot or a Burley bike trailer. They are the best, they pull the smoothest and easiest. Your hubby will thank you. We started out with a cheep one and upgraded not long after. It was so worth it! I have had two burley trailers. Love them! I did end up getting the stroller kit for them because its soooo nice to push on walks. It glides so much more smoothly then the carseat strollers and holds extra items better. All around better to me:).
Good luck!
