I am wondering if anyone knows of a good charity/organization that accpets donations of used toys. I am currently sorting through my children's toys and there are several items that my boys no longer play with that I do not want to just throw away. I would like to donate them to a good cause and have my boys involved in the process so that they can learn a little something about charity.

What can I do next?

Lekotek is an organization that lends toys out to children who have developmental disabilities (and autism). They would, I'm sure, love donations of toys (NOT STUFFED ANIMALS). Check it out at http://www.lekotekga.org. My friend's son borrows toys from there and they're a great resource for those in need.

Hi K.,

I know Battered Women's Shelter takes donations and they come to your house and do pick ups. You can look up their number and call, they take all kinds of stuff.

Good idea to let your kids help with the decision making. My mom (when I was a kid) just took stuff she though I wouldn't care about or notice. Sometimes I *did* notice and got upset with her. Not the best way to make a child feel charitable.

If you're in Roswell or Alpharetta GA, NCCF is near Hembree Park, on Elkins Rd, just off Alpharetta Hwy. And there's a goodwill truck at the Roswell Recycling center (On Hembree Road, maybe a half mile east of Alpharetta Hwy.)

The Share House in Douglasville is a great cause. It helps Moms get out of abusive situations and they usually have to start completely over. THey take clothes, Household items, toys. etc. They sell some to let the women "buy" for there kids and they give a lot to them as well. Great cause. You could also give to a local daycare as well.

You might check with MUST ministries as well. They offer so many items to families in need and they have drop off points at almost every UMC in the ATL area as well as their "store" (where families "shop" for free) in Marietta.

MUST Ministries takes used toys. We've sent things there that our boys have outgrown or no longer play with and they're always happy to receive our donations.

Also, you might check out women's shelters. There are always children coming in that need something to play with.

Just a couple of suggestions.
