So What Happened?

I thank you for all the help. The product i was looking for is called Duraflor and it is a gel that is applied to the teeth a couple of times a week. It stops further decay.

Hi Debbie,

My daughter is from China and tooth decay is genetically notorious there.

Our pediatric dentist put my daughter on fluoride treatments, to build up her enamel. She takes one small pill every other day.

She doesn't have a cavity in her month. Of course there are lots of people who don't believe in fluoride, but in our case her teeth were really susceptible to decay, and we had to weigh the risk. My husband is a prof. of medicine at UCLA and we did a lot of research on the pros and cons. We decided to go with the recommendation of our dentist.

Just a thought.

There are some dentists' who can put a coating on teeth, but I am not sure if they have to wait until their adult teeth come in. My daughter who eats really well and rarely eats junk food or sweets is four with three cavities. I'm glad these are practice teeth, and will probably coat her adult teeth as she may just have very thin enamel. Good luck!

You can have your childs teeth sealed & that is one way that prevents any further or any decay at all, but this is done through a Peds Dentist or your family dentist. Just ask I had my daughters done when it first came out & was quite expensensive at that time over 20 yrs ago, but now it should be a reasonable cost. Yes it did work on my daughters teeth & she has the most beautiful smile now I started when she was 6 yrs old as my family has horrible teeth. I definately recommend this highly. My daughter has had no further decay, I think you may have to have it redone when you reach young adulthood, but check with the dentist to see.

I have never heard of this and I used to work for an Oral surgeon. I'm not saying it doesn't exist, but the only thing I know of is getting their teeth sealed once their permanent teeth come in. Other wise just make sure to brush every night and NEVER let them go to bed or nap with a bottle of anything but water, juice and milk will rot their teeth incredibly fast.

But you can always call your local dentist and ask them if there is a new gel on the market, other wise the only thing I can thing of is fluoride but that too comes from the dentist and not over the counter.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Both my kids had a lot of cavities at a young age. Our pediatric dentist would have us come once a month to brush on something that helps slow down the cavities. We did that for a while, until we had them sedated to get all their cavities fixed and teeth sealed.
