Maybe it's too early for the meat. I know every doc is different, but mine says to wait till 9 mons. My son is 5 months and we are still doing the fruits and veggies. I think 5 poos a day is allot too. Maybe ask your doc on that one.
My daughter is 7 1/2 months old and is on stage 2 baby foods and i just started the meat combinations also. She used to poop twice a day if that, and now she is pooping like 5 times and they are REALLY stinky. I am guessing it is because of the new foods i am starting. She is not showing any type of reactions so i figure it is normal. I don't remeber my son doing that. Anyone else experience this?

My son pooped like 12 times a day when we switched to stage 3... but they were all like rabbit pellets. I started giving him prunes twice a day and he is fine. Is she pooping the same quantity in her diapers as she was when she was pooping twice a day, or is it just spreading out? It could be possible that she's just not finishing.
J B,
I second the meat advice... not introducing until 9 months.
I was told once that it takes up to a year for their digestive system to get used to eating solids... I dont remember where i heard this, maybe I read it on a website somewhere...
But, on to my point. When they start getting fruit in their diet, this can really change the bowel habits. My son who is now 17 months, poops 3 times a day - they ALWAYS stink... I'm convinced he is perfectly healthy. Poop is waste, it's going to smell bad... I know the bathroom doesn't smell like roses when the adults in our home get out of the bathroom...
Perhaps she's getting too many fruits? Does she get a good amount of Rice Cereal in the morning? I was adding rice cereal to a lot of my sons babyfood because it was homemade, and sometimes just not thick enough. Plus he would get a good big bowl of cereal for his breakfast.
Just a few ideas... but i'm sure she's normal, as long as it is not loose, or watery, causing pain, or obvious discomfort.
Good luck!
All babies are different...ever heard that before? Ha! Both my kids were/are big poopers. My daughter nursed exclusively until around 6 or 7 months...my son started eating food about 10 minutes after he was born...I think it really depends on the kid. If you have no reaction/rash/problems I'm not sure why it's a big deal to feed them meat...I personally didn't introduce the meat until later (around 9 months) because it grossed me out! They can get plenty of variety from a lot of other foods out there...if you want to eliminate things one by one and see if the stink factor decreases you can do that but I don't see why you would as long as there aren't compliations. Just my two cents.
My son has always pooped MANY times a day too. (It has decreased since he became toilet trained.) Two different pediatricians have told me that it's "normal".
I know this goes against what used to be taught but doctors have found out more recently that it is best to have meat be the first solid food for your baby to keep the proper protein content in their diet. When you start introducing solids you start breastfeeding or forumla feeding less, and this significantly reduces the amount of protein in the babies diet.
Also every baby is different (if you had a nickel right?) and so is the length of their digestive tract. Don't be worried that she is pooping more as long as the stools aren't too hard that she has significantly hard time passing them or obviously too loose. Some kids poop more when they start eating food, and some do it a bit less.
You might try giving some whole milk baby yogurt to help reduce the stinkiness since it gives the "friendly" bacteria the digestive tract needs and aids digestion. Whole milk baby yogurt is one of the dairy products you can start giving at 7-8 months. You just can't start giving milk beverage until 1 years. Yogurt and cheese aren't a danger to replacing breastmilk/formula like milk is.
Also yogurt is something typically anyone including those with a milk protein (either casein or whey) allergy can eat since the lactose is broken down in the culturing process, and the milk protein is limited or removed. Remember it is better to eat yogurt with LIVE/ACTIVE bacteria in it.
