My daughter has the same problem. I use the De-tangling spray to wet her hair in the morning and it looks good. If we have something important to do that day I just sympily do he bath in the morning.
My toddler sometimes wakes up with "bed hair" in the morning. I'm looking for advice on how to "tame" the out of control hair. Brushing it doesn't help, it just goes back to the way it was. She doesn't have very much hair, but I'd hate to have to wash her hair again the morning just to make it look presentable. She'll be 2 in June.
Thank you all for the advice. The next time I'm shopping, I'll look for the Johnson's Detangling spray or try to find the Johnson's no more Bed Head.

We have the same problem with my 3-year old. We bought a spray bottle at the dollar shop and filled it with water and just a little bit of light hold hair gel. Does the trick every time.
Have you tried the spray on leave-in conditioner? I have found that just a light spraying and combthrough really helps tame the bed head around my house!
Every morning, I wet my children's brushes with water before brushing their hair. Sometimes, I need to get water on my fingers and apply it to my son's hair which is shorter and sticks up quite a bit. The water helps with static electricity during the dry winter months too.
My daughter has the same problem. She's 15 months and has quite a bit of hair, so I bought the detangler spray for kids. It's made by Suave, but there are other brands. She has really fine hair so this helps after baths too. You could probably buy a cheap spray bottle and just put water in it to wet her hair down and then brush it. Hope this helps.
Have you tried just spraying it with a bottle of water? I have a 9yo that still has bed head and if his hair is clean, I just spray it with water & comb.
You can either use a spray bottle with just water or if she has straight hair just put some water on her brush when you brush it and that might help a little I have a little boy that has the same problem and short of using products that's the only thing that works.
A squirt bottle comes in handy for this - I use two parts water and one part detangler.
:o)

Try wetting (use a spray bottle) just the pieces of hair that are out of control, instead of washing her hair all over. I have naturally curly hair and still have to do this everyday to fight off the bed head.
My 4 yr old daughter still has horrible nests when she wakes up, gets out of her carseat or lays for any period of time. I stopped using baby shampoo as it was damaging her hair more and drying it out. I have seen some improvement since switching to a good quality shampoo and conditioner. I never wash hair more than every 3 days usually, it isn't good for any of us to. When she gets her bath and it is not a hair washing night, I just put a bit of conditioner in and let it sit while she plays. Rinse it a little, not all the way out. Always brush right away after towel drying and spritz with a leave-in (not kids) to brush and fix. It hasn't cured, but it helps. I am planning on cutting her hair this summer to her shoulders to hopefully cure. She needs to get rid of the baby hair and start growing mature hair.
Ever heard of detangler? You can find it in the same section as the kids shampoo. Just spray it on and comb it out. If she does have really thin hair try not to spray it on the top of her head because it will make it look greasy. My daughter has the same kind of hair.
Both my girls have the same hair problem. They have very fine hair. I spray Johnson & Johnson Detangler spray into their dry hair and brush it out and just let it air dry. That really works for my girl's hair. Good luck. I tried everything else and this is the only stuff that worked for me. It's very inexpensive and you can find in on the shampoo isle at Wal-Mart by the kids shampoo. Let me know how it works.
Have you considered using some leave-in conditioner? It'll get the tangles out, wet it a little so that it'll be more likely to tame, and no gunk in her hair like you would have with gels and mouses. I believe sauve has some for kids. Hope this helps!
I have used Suave kids detangling spray for years on my kids bed head. It works wonders and it smells good too! It can be used on wet or dry hair. I just spray there hair down in the morning and comb it!
Purchase a water bottle w/ a sprayer on it from the dollar store. It only takes a couple of squirts to make hair damp enough to fix and go.
I am a hair stylist and what I do with my boys in the morning is use a spray bottle with water and then brush it. you could also put a little conditioner in the water or even try a leave-in detangler or conditioner spray.
I used to use johnson and johnson detangling spray on the parts of Tori's hair that wouldn't lay down like they were supposed to. That or just plain water in the morning should do the trick.
Bed hair can be a night mare - I also have a curly-Q myself, she is 7 now and it is still somewhat of a fight (she wants straight hair - not happening). What worked for us was a satin pillow case and detangler - the general dollar brand. I think it is just conditioner and water but it smells grate and is great at taming frizzies and unmanageble hair. Good Luck!
Most of the time I'm a horrible mom and just send her to daycare without touching her hair! lol My daughter doesn't like for me to fix her hair very often. But she gladly lets her caregiver put several ponytails in it!
Whenever I do try to fix her hair myself, a lot of times I just get a paper towel wet and just wipe her hair with it. I think it's a much easier way to get a toddler's hair damp, and you don't have to worry about spraying her eyes or other things around you.
I'm the Granny of a 7 year old (almost 8) grandson who had had bad bed hair his whole life. My daughter keeps a bottle of de-tangler (I have one too for overnights) in the bathroom with his brush and spritzes him down good and brushes his hair, seems to take care of the problem nicely, and we've done this since he was a todler. Just one little suggested solution that works fine. He's even getting good at doing it for himself.
A.,
Try to use a small spray bottle of water and wet her hair and then fix it. You may also want to use some detangler to help brush out the hair without hurting her.

Hi A., I have 2 daughters 14 and 9. The 9 year old still has that bad morning hair, but I always kept a spray bottle w/water and would put a little bit of conditioner in it and shake it up. In the mornings all I had to do is spray it on her hair and she's good to go.
hi, you could try just keeping a spray bottle and using that to wet her hair just enough to get it where you want it. I did that with my little one when she was that age. Or sometimes we would just spray a little detangling spray in it (very little) just enough to style it the way I wanted with a yummy scent. :-)
Spray it down with a water bottle - or if it tangles get a sray for detangling hair. Dampen it then brush it, it will lay down. If there's lots of static, spray a little anti-static spray (like you use on clothes) onto a brush then brush her hair with it.
Just a little spray on children's conditioner will lay her hair back down. No need to wash out it is safe to leave on her hair till next washing. C. B.
(Clean) Spray bottle with water in it. My girls, 6 and 22 months, look like house shoe heads in the morning. My six year old loves doing her own hair with her "hairspray" and even my 22 month old is getting into the "do it myself" mode. One or pumps at the crown and a hairbrush glides gently through.
My toddler wakes up with the "fuzzies" in the AM. I have been spraying her her with Clairol leave-in conditioner and it works GREAT. I even use it on my 9 year-old son when his hair is uncontrollable in the morning.
you can either try wetting the hairbrush slightly or use a spray bottle and mist her hair just enough to dampen it but make sure you leave enough time for it to dry properly before taking her out into the damp morning air. there are also several sprays on the market for detangling etc. you may consider trying one of those, but again make sure it has time to dry.
We use Suave detangling spray. It works great and smells good, too.
A.,
A little bit of leave-in conditioner spray or liquid fabric softener spritz on the brush before brushing the hair has always worked great for me.
Just be sure not to get too much...

My 3 year son has "bed hair" in the morning too. He looks in the mirror and says, "Oh no Mommy-bed hair." You don't have to wash it again. Take an old spray bottle and fill it with water. An empty Johnson's no more tangles bottle works well. Spray her hair down and get it wet. Dry off the excess with a towel. Then brush or comb it out.
There is a hair product mad by Johnson's called No More Bed Head, not to be confused with the Bed Head line in your salon. You can usually find it at Walmart or Target. It is like a detangling spray but it is amazing stuff. Since birth my little girl has had a massive amount of hair and she would wake every morning with it sticking straight up. I could spray this stuff on there and it would lay right down.
It sounds silly, but a silk/satin pillow case on her pillow, will do wonders! The hair doesn't have any fibers to grab and get "matted" up with satin, like they can with cotton. Plus, it is very princess like- and I'm sure she would love it!
I have a small spray bottle that I bought at Wal-mart for about $1. I just spray his hair with a little water and then brush it and it stays perfect just like I had washed it. Try it out and let me know.
A.,
I have an 18 month old that wakes up with "bed hair" also.
At that age it is fine and thin.
What I do is keep a spray bottle of water handy at my bathroom sink. I spray it a little and then comb it out. I usually don't dry it because it isn't that wet and it is just in one spot, however, if we are going to go out and it is cold I will grab my hair dryer and it takes only about 30 seconds to blow it. I am a hairdresser and there is really nothing that you can put on it that won't weigh it down or make it oily and yucky. The mist water is the best thing that I have found and it looks just like you have washed it without actually washing it.
Hi A.- my daughter was the same way and still is to an extent! I have a spray bottle of water that I mist her hair with and brush. It makes all the difference.
I fill a squirt bottle with warm water and just mist it to get my boys hair looking presentable. :)
You can use No More Tangles to help control it.
Hello. My daughter has the crazies in the morning too. I bought some Johnson's Detangling Conditioner spray. I sray just a little and comb it. When it dries it looks like it should and does not leave her hair sticky or stiff. Just like using a little water + it smells good.
