Toddler Fell on Belly

This may sound silly, but I'm a worrier...
My 20 month old was playing with her brother and they were jumping on bean bags. He moved the bag and she fell on her stomach onto a carpeted floor. I don't think her hands broke her fall much because it looked like her stomach hit first. She cried for a minute and has been fine, although she went to bed about an hour after it happened. I just checked her and she seemed fine and was sleeping soundly. I know that internal injuries can be hard to detect so I'm worried. Should I be?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all so much! As you all predicted (along with my husband), she is just fine! I thought with the 3rd I would worry less, but falls and illnesses still keep me up at night! Hearing from lots of experienced Moms always makes me feel better and I appreciate it. Thanks to all who responded!

no worries, she will be a-ok.... my 21 month old will randomly do a "free fall" onto the carpet and doesn't even brace his fall w/ his arms... he hasn't hurt himself yet but has learned that the "free fall" onto pillows is more fun.... get some good rest and know that your daughter is doing a fabulous job of exploring her world!

Don't worry....kids are pretty much made of rubber :) LOL

My 18 month old took a tumble down a flight of uncarpeted stairs and got some ugly bruises, but was perfectly fine.

I think their injuries hurt US more than THEM :)

No, you should not be worried. Your toddler, falling maybe 12 inches to the floor with only her own weight landing on her, essentially...I'd say the chances of having internal injuries from that are EXTREMELY rare.

If she went to bed early, it was probably because she was worn out from jumping on bean bags. :)

she will be fine!!!

if she had internal injuries, she would NOT be sleeping soundly...also with internal injuries there would be a HUGE bruise or contusion to the area.

My son took a trip down a flight of stairs on his fire truck - there was blood everywhere!! It looked like a crime scene...what happened? he split his lip open....

Take a deep breath and stop panicking!! :) she'll be fine!!!

My son fell off a piece of play ground equipment from 6 ft up & landed in a belly flop on the mulch on the ground. I did take him to the dr. They felt his belly, cleaned his scrapes & said he was fine. He was. He was about 26 months at the time.

I think she is fine too, but always feel like you can call your doctor's office with any questions you have. The only silly question is the one that goes unasked and something happens. I call my doctor's help line all the time even if I think I know the answer it just gives me a sense of relief if nothing else. I am surprised they don't greet me by name when they see my number appear! LOL Hope this helps and your little girl is a-ok!

I doubt she is hurt, but you can be worried.. you're her momma, that's what we do when they fall sometimes lol. I am endlessly amazed the falls kids take with no injuries. They are more flexible and tough than adults. They do injure obviously, but it takes quite a bit. My friends son fell from a shopping cart (the part they sit in) onto the wal-mart tile floor, she freaked and took him to the ER and he was fine (like I said, I'm endlessly amazed they don't injure with stuff like that). It probably knocked the breath out of her. If you are worried, check on her periodically. No matter how much we give advice on you actually witnessed what happened and have every instinct/right to be worried about your little one :)

Seems like with abdominal there is severe pain, visual bruising, or bloody vomit.
