Toddler Diet Help

I know this question has been asked before, but I must have missed it, so I am asking again..
I have a 20 month old who isn't quite to the point of feeding herself with utensils yet. I feed her myself sometimes and sometimes do the finger food route and put it on her high chair tray for her to self feed. She loves to do it, but I am stuck in a rut!
What kinds of things do you feed your child? I would appreciate your help very much. I know she is getting sick of sandwiches and would love to find other options.
Thanks!

What can I do next?

I have a 20 month old and I put what ever we are eating that is what goes on his tray. mash potatoes, veggies, noodles with sauce (not a ton of sauce) etc. this is some of the things that we eat. I also give him utensils at everymeal that he is eating.

Hope this helped

When my son was learning to self feed I would mix cheerios with some yogurt. That way it stuck to the spoon and was easier to clean up later.

My daughter's daycare center had them using utencils and cups (no lids) at 15mos. and up so by 20mos most really had it mastered so it is possible.

Take the fork show her how to stab a piece of food and give her the fork so she can learn to bring the food to her mouth.

I fed my daughter anything I would eat just chopped it up smaller.

feed her what you are eating...cut things up if necessary. always offer her something she likes, but get her used to eating the foods you do so you only cook one dinner, lunch etc. i make a lot of hotdishes or stirfrys and my kids love the noodles and things like spagehtti. you can also cut up small veges in hotsdishes too: peas, broccoli, carrots, etc. my daughter is almost three and can eat pretty good, but i sometimes help her finish up her meals by feeding her with the spoon/fork. my kids also like cheese, meat and crackers and cut up fresh or canned fruit, yogurt, cereal with just a tiny bit of milk, eggs, toast.

At 20 months, she should be able to use a fork to eat. I would get her toddler sized dinnerware (don't get plastic, they are harder to poke the food with) and let her go. Put her food on a plate too, don't just throw it on the high chair tray. Both my boys could use a fork at a year old, so just give them to her and let her eat. She can eat whatever you are eating, so no need for a special meal for her. Plus this helps her regulate her food intake, so she eats what her body needs.

Stop putting food in your child's mouth. If she's hungry, she'll put it in there herself. To encourage use of a spoon, use foods that stick to the spoon easily and that are tasty: yogurt, applesauce, and cottage cheese were some of my son's favorites.

Everything you eat, she can eat too...unless its spicy.
The more she eats what you eat, she'll be more likely to eat a wide variety of foods later. Yogurt and pudding are good foods for kids to try to feed themselves, it will be messy, but go with it, she'll love the independence. Encourage her, help her (a little) if need be, clap and say "good job" when she gets it to her mouth. At 20 months she should be able to use utensils on her own.
Grilled cheese
quesadillas
tuna/chicken boats
brocolli
chicken noodle soup
lunch meat (with or without the bread)
cheeses
waffles
chicken nuggets
fruit (mandarin oranges, pears, apples, strawberry, blueberry)
veggies-corn, grn beans, brocolli, carrots
Whatever you eat, cut it up for her size and watch her enjoy the new foods.

In our house, whole wheat pita with hummus is just as good as any sandwich.

My daughter is 2 yrs old and when she started to feed herself I used foods to get her the Gerber Graduate foods. They have pasta pick-ups made for toddlers who are learning to self-feed. She loved the cheese ravioli and anything with noodles.
