Have you considered having her blood sugar checked? Could it be mono?
Hey moms.
I took my daughter into the Dr and trying not to worry.
I am not one to rush them in but she has been really tired lately, she sleeps 11 hours at night still tired upon waking and tired throughout the day. I got a call from her teacher that she seems off at school, looks tired, not paying attention well (we have had this issue in the past because she is very social!). When she gets home from school she looks wiped, droopy tired eyes that are more then likely bloodshot. She eats very well, has some good energy at home. The Dr this morning said that it seems she looks tired, felt around, no fever, clear ears and eyes, no throat redness but did a workup blood wise and I have to come back on Friday.
What could this be? She did have a major growth spurt (thanks moms for the comfort about her wild eating a few weeks ago), she grew 1 1/2 inches in five months, but the Dr said that would NOT cause the lack of focus or her being pale. It could be anemia, but it doesn't run in the family, the kids loves spinach salads and eats well.
I am trying not to worry, have you experienced this? What was it?
YEAH THANK THE LORD GOD! Everything I mean EVERYTHING from iron, thyroid, glucose, kidney, liver, cancer blood cells, infections and all of that was checked for and my daughter is VERY healthy! What a relief.
They checked her for congestion again, they believe she is possibly getting seasonal allergies and they put her on childrens OTC liquid Zyrtec for a few weeks. The Dr said if she is all congested and not breathing well at night that then she isn't getting the 10+ hours of sleep and that allergies can make you feel wiped out. ON TOP of her major all of a sudden growth spurt. So it was a good day!
It is NOT symptomatic of food allergies, which are typically shown up on the skin or digestive issues and DO not develop overnight like this kind of did however a new type of outdoor allergen can start being an irratant with her.
SO we are going to see, get her on the zyrtec and it very well could be she has been battling off a cold.
All is good, thank you God and now we will have some consequences for not being attentive in class, which is capable of and has done many times, but she needs to focus and stop her socialization during class! :)
Thank you mommies for the reassurance and information you provided~!

You might check her out for allergies -- I had the same symptoms while in high school and found I was allergic to milk and strawberries (which I loved and ate all the time.)
She might also have diabetes -- don't settle for a simple "don't know" from the doctor -- keep prodding them with questions until you get some answers -- for your daughter's sake, as well as your own! Best wishes for success!
I was the same way from Jr. High on. Finally, when I couldn't survive a semester at college without feeling like I had mono, the doctor tested my thyroid and that was the problem. I was severely underweight, so weight gain isn't a necessary symptom. Blood sugar, or blood pressure problems could also cause it, although she would likely be passing out, or feeling like passing out. I hope you get answers on Friday. I know it's scary when you don't know what's wrong with your kid.
Maybe she needs a day off to rest and get sleep and have fun!
Is something going on with her Dad that might be pulling her down? Is she worried about your finance with you? She is bright and knows what is going on. Maybe she is depressed. You have so much stress. She might be feeling it too. With the car issue.
Just a thought.

I would have them test her sugars. Does she drink a lot, urinate frequently?? I would ask them about the possibility of diabetes just to rule it out.
I'm sorry D., I don't have any advice, I hope they get to the bottom of this soon!
I try not to worry until the DR gives me a reason to worry.
Hope she feels better soon!!!!!!!!
