Our first journey to disney world is about to begin. Any items i shoudl be sure to pack?? Of course clothes.. including a light jacket in case it is chilly. I read abotu taping your cell phone number to your child in case they get lost. So I am bringing good sticky tape adn a sharpie.. PIns to trade with the characters too. Do we need a raincoat.. ??

My disney guide recommended fanny packs to carry belongings.. but we were thinking of a lightweight backpack..

What can I do next?

I attach a whistle to a string my kids put in their pocket. If they got lost I told them not to move and blow the whistle and we would find them. Never did need it though:)

It's been chilly at night so bring some warm clothes if you plan on being out late. I would use a back pack not a fanny pack you might need the extra room. We don’t get much rain this time of year so you shouldn’t need a rain coat. I would tell your children if they get separated from you in the park go into the nearest store and ask an employee for help.

Have fun :-)

Bring snacks to eat while in the park so you don't have to buy them all the time. Food is expensive and the snacks are mostly junk (churros, popcorn, ice cream, etc) though fruit is available too (at least this is the case at Disneyland and I imagine it's the same). Of course, some junk is great on vacation, but you're not going to want to buy 2-3 expensive, junky snacks a day throughout the whole trip.

Comfy shoes are key. A hat if it's going to be really sunny or hot. A backpack is much better than a fanny pack so you can stick the jackets and snacks in there. Bring bottles of water too.

How exciting! We love Disney!!!
I would suggest going to the Dollar Tree and getting some rain ponchos. you can get a 2-pack for $1. Otherwise, you will be standing in a LOOOONNNG line to pay around $7 each for ponchos for the fam..... cute Mickey ponchos, but still... and you don't mind tossing cheapo ponchos in the trash at the end of your trip.
The lightweight backpack is a good idea, too. You can take it off so it doesn't get uncomfortable under some of the ride restraints like a fanny pack can. Plus, you can carry a few extras, like ponchos! Sunscreen face sticks are convenient, too, and they travel well if you are flying.
Have a MAGICAL time!!!

You need a light weight jacket, or better yet, sweatshirts. It will be chilly in the evening.
Yes, rain gear is a must. I recommend rain ponchos.
I recommend bring a backpack. You can bring food and beverages into the park, so be sure to pack a few snacks and a water bottle.
You should check with the Disney personnel if staying on a Disney property, and attached a note on your child "I'm staying at ....". Instruct you kids who to go to if you should get separated.
If the kids are fair skinned, you'll want some sun tan lotion.
Don't forget the bathing suits.

Have a great time.

I am a grandma and we were at Disney for a week in early October - there were 7 of us ages 57 to 2 years old - 5 adults and 2 kiddos - YES get the $1 ponchos at Target; we didn't and they are $8 each in the Disney stores and "just in case" became a reality for us!
The biggest thing we learned, and this was not about the supplies, but if you are staying at a Disney hotel be sure to take advantage of the "magic hour" where one of the parks is open an hour early everyday for Disney hotel guests; we planned the night before the major things we wanted to see and do and in that "magic hour" we covered a lot of ground because there were no lines.
Based on your kids ages, backpacks for all may not be necessary; I wore one and my daughter with the kids (ages 2 and 9) had a diaper bag on the stroller. We had gotten the advise to "move as fast as the slowest person" which obviously was the 2 year old and so when she was ready to melt, we would typically begin to wind down and honestly, it was okay as it was 86 degrees most days!
The other thing my daughter did - we had the Disney meal plan where we got two meals and a snack; so she packed breakfast type goodies (bagels, granola bars) in her luggage, even a little cooler with an ice pack with yougurts and cheese and it stayed good until they got to their hotel room; so there was always "ready to eat" food when the kids got up that was nutritious and didn't cost a thing.
We typically were there when the parks opened and stayed till about lunch, or ate lunch at that park; then headed home, played at the pool for a couple hours, ate dinner, and relaxed for the night. It was a great pace since we were often at the "bus stops" at 7:15 am to catch the bus to the park.
It was an awesome vacation and we wouldn't have changed a thing.
Have a magical day:)

Forget the tape and write the number on their arms with the sharpie.

If you have a little girl, be sure to stop by your local accessory shop and pick up a tiara. All of that stuff is really expensive.

We found our tiara at Charming Charlie's.

the fanny packs were for me a life saver. I was able to put my camera, my cell phone and my wallet inside without having to carry anything on my back/arm. no chance of sitting it down and walking away either lol. so that was a big hit for me. bring clothing for the kids that is all mix and match in case of unexpected spills or accidents. yes for sure bring a jacket / sweater. we went to Disney in December 89 and it snowed while we were there for the very merry Christmas party. also all of the restaurants are air conditioned and it is cold on little ones arms / legs.

Dollar tree ponchos. I went to the dog tag making station at Walmart and made dog tag necklaces with kids info on them. If you have any gift cards or photo pass cards...take a pic of the back of them with the number on it with your cell phone so if you lose them you can replace them. I would bring water and snacks if you don't have the mean plan. Don't forget antibacterial or wipes.
