I'm having my Mirena IUC removed next week and was wondering what to expect from somoeone who's had this done before. I already know not to do the deed a week prior to, just wondering how discomforting the procedure is and if it causes any bleeding.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well I had it removed today and it was pretty painless. She had to "fish" around for a few minutes since the OB who installed it cut the strings super short, other than that I barely felt it except a little tugging sensation and it was over.

I had mine removed at the end of May. It wasn't bad at all. Implanting it was definitely worse. I didn't bleed right away but had my first period about two days later. And I am now six weeks pregnant. So, if that isn't your intention, be careful after it's removed! No one ever told me about not doing the deed a week prior either.

I had mine surgically removed right after it got put it cause i was one of the few that it perferated through the wall and wasn't in place anymore. they put you right out so you won't even know what is going on. Then of course you are a little sore afterwards. They told me not to pick up my son cause of the stitches which was kind of hard being as he was 2 at the time and didn't understand why i couldn't pick him up but it did last a few days. now my friend just had it taken out and was told she could go back to work the next day so i guess it depends on your situation if you normally do lifting and what not they will pry tell you not to for a few days. hope this helps. oh after reading the rest fo the responses i guess i should say since mine had to come out with surgery i am not aware of what it's like to have it pulled out if that is what your getting done. sorry

I had my Mirena removed last year and had no problems. I didn't even feel the removal and it took about 2 seconds (literally!!) I had some very very minor cramps for maybe a half hour, but that was it. The month after you have it removed your hormones are a little out of whack, but that was no big deal either!! Good luck!

Hi A.

I have Mirena put in at my 6 week checkup with my OB after having my 2nd child, well I had problems with mine as far as my body adapting to it in my body so 7 months later mine had to come out, it was nothing at all less painful than getting it inserted. it doesnt hurt to have it pulled out just little pressure for your OB to get up there to yank it out properly

When I had mine removed it was during my yearly visit. My OBGYN did the pap smear first then before she took out the speculum she pulled it out. All I felt was a little bit of cramping (nothing like when it was put in). And the cramping only lasted just a few minutes. I didn't have any bleeding from having it removed either.
